Marvelous, how do you feed the dragon by the way, will it haunt the SAE?

Beautiful dragon you have!![]()

It depends partly on the tanks ambient temperature. This tank without fans ranges in the 29s and 30s. Usually fans will drop temps by about 2 degrees.
This fish is trained by the farm to eat pellets.
Gan's.
Thank you.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Looks like I'm going to have problems with this young one. Its refusing to eat its pellets (the same ones from the farm), except for a piece or two on two occasions.
I've observed it trying for the SAEs a few times, but hasn't caught one. On the other hand, I've seen in swim near enough a small school of 4 or 5 unsuspecting SAEs to do a successful snatch, but not bother them. It has not terrorised the SAEs enough to make them go into hiding or even be overtly wary of it. Last night, when tank lights were off with only dim room lights on, it made a go for a Starlight bristlenose. Fortunately the Starlight was alert and got away. I think the starlights won't be cleaning my glass much until they get big enough. (Edit: I think I need to go count my starlights, no telling whether it had managed to get one on the first night!)
The greedy SAEs, of course, are going for the pellets, so that makes things a little complicated in getting the dragon to continue its pellet diet.
I think the fish is confused by its budding instincts and its training.
Even fishes have personality and this one is so different from my first arowana which continued its market prawn diet without a hitch. The latter was aggressive enough that the other 2 arowanas in its tank at the LFS cowered in the corner, yet it did not bother with its tank mates.

Limz_777, I'm prepared. I've lost one SAE to my previous arowana in the exact scenario you described. Yep, was considering the wafer plan too.

My wife tried feeding pellets again tonight and it ate at least 10. Maybe, it prefers to be fed by a woman. :-p

Hmmm, maybe it was fed by a lady at the farm too!
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.
Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.
Usually for arowanas, we suppose to let them fast for a few days after introducing into a new tank. Sometimes they are not used to new environment, so they tend not to eat, lose color, bang the glass cover etc....

Ya, I knew that, but couldn't help but worrya little since it tried to chase the small tank mates, but refused pellets. Fed again this morning and its continuing to eat the pellets.

Now that it is eating properly I think you should sit back, relax and enjoy the fruits of your labor![]()

Cant wait to see your tank when it is ready!

It's eating pellets regularly now, but still chases the SAEs on occasion.
