Yeah that's right! Thanks for that. They seem to use this light for all the nano tanks. I don't suppose if you know where I can get this in Singapore? I've been to a few places (c328, GC) but I have not come across this brand yet.

I saw something like this at c328 if I remember it correctly. Its not the exact one you're looking for but do check out the dymax astro light. Seems similar enough I hope.

I didnt see any at 328. The dymax looks good man! And only 18 bucks from madpetz. I feel silly now paying $38 for my aquazonic 9w LED clip on when I could have gotten a 15w light for 18 bucks.

LED generally have a higher price. It is not so simple to compare light, there are many factors. duration before bulb or lightset replacement, usefulness of PAR, power consumption, temperature of the lightset affecting the tank water temperature etc. Since you have already bought the light, it is always a good excuse to start another tank. Usually thats is how the poison spreads.....

by the way, there is a lot of good materials to read on what to look out for lights in AQ.

Those dennerle and dymax models are PL lights, different from LED lights.

PL lights have way higher heat output which contribute to higher temperatures in a tank (especially small nano tanks). It might look like higher wattage on paper but most of the wattage is actually wasted heat production (instead of light), try touching the PL bulb after its on for a while, it'll burn your fingers.

The PL bulbs also degrade faster and have much shorter effective lifespan than compared to LEDs, so you'll need to buy new bulbs to replace regularly, which will add to the overall expenditure over time.
