what pump or canister are you using with the chiller? you need a flow rate of around 250-1200 pump or caninster to cool properly

I didn't using any canister yet because wanted to try out the chiller works for my tank. I pump in the water from my tank to the chiller with resun submersible 1000/lth and the chiller back to my tank without any pump or sump that all. Is there any problem I leave or forget ?

you should get at least a 1/5 powered chiller. its more economical in the sense as it won't kick in as often.

Just tell that the salesman has given you the wrong chiller for your 3 feet and its not cooling well. Shouldn't be a problem if you just bought recently.

Today I call the salesman and he told me that my pump flow rate is not enough and need to be upgrade to 1500lt/h - 2000lt/h. he also told me that water pump too slow from the chiller back to the tank and before the tank water flow back to the chiller it already hot liao. And then I told him if I buy the pump still can't how ? He said bring back the chiller and they will test it for me. I think the way he talk I can't upgrade to another model liao so sad.

yo bro Ang...if you ask me, i will go straight for the Hailea HC300A...
it can chill up to 4ft tank with no problems at all...
so no need to upgrade if in future you decided to upgrade to a 4ft tank..

Re: Hailea HC-150a chiller need help and advise.

i suddenly noticed my nick here.. lol...
well bro AGK, i have already swapped the CL650 for the exact same chiller as yours now 150A... its working fine for me running through a Eheim 2026 canister...

Think you need to change to a bigger h/p chiller because the 150A suits my 2ft just right with the capacity of tank and the flowrate from my canister.. but 3ft tank i believe require a bigger capacity chiller.. flowrate depends on your canister or pump i guess.. try to get one that matches both the CC and also the flowrate...

I change the 150a to 300a but I still dunno how to count the flowrate... the guy come service said that 1250 l/h pump is enough... but i was thinking to get the best perfomance so I can cut the electric bill from the chiller kick in/out... can you help out ? I posted to another thread but still haven get my reply

Actually by using a chiller means a 'damage' to our pockets.. The only way to maintain the chiller in good working order will be to make sure that the chiller suits the capacity of the tank.. Then flowrate just make sure that the canister/pump is running between the range of the chiller so as to minimize over-stressing the chiller too much or under-powering the chiller to run optimally..

By getting a chiller of a higher h/p already means that there will be a higher power consumption..
I chose not to use CL650 is because the power consumption is 650w(!) and I will be using an over-powered chiller for a small tank.. (electric bill will also kill me)

I don't know if I am saying it correctly but that's how I see it..

Just for your info, I am currently using a second hand HC150C for my 3ft 1.5ft 1.5ft tank as well, running with Jet canister set at 950l/h flow rate and so far it works fine. Temperature set at 25C.

Re: Hailea HC-150a chiller need help and advise.

i think you should use the pump which meets the required flowrate for the chiller nothing more than that. too fast and the tank may not be able to cool effectively. How long does it takes to cool down to 25deg? first time set the temp it will take some time to cool down. the chiller temp probe itself is not in the tank..its within the chiller so actually if you immersef another temp probe you can see there is a slight diff in temp between the two. think the default diff is by 2deg.

Yah Hor! Me too! I got my Hailea 150A second hand but still in working condition. However when I don't turn on the air conditioner the temperature won't go below 26 Degrees Celsius. I think it must be the Eheim 2213 I'm using to circulate the water. Specifications say it is only flow rate 116gph! Anyway I'm thinking on moving it to my room's 20 litre tank and getting a bigger, more reliable chiller for my 200 litre tank. Any advice on what brands are good?
