I have been trying to read up information as well as setup detail for Maxspect razor and apparently it seems mostly are commercial-related reviews.

Maxspect is a powerful light and probably an overkill equipment for our planted tanks. The possibility to control the color spectrum make it interesting to play with, but again any changes make does modify the color temperature which we might get into serious algae issue if it is wrongly set. The user programmable setting allows us to preset our preferred dawn-day-night setting which I am very amazed by it. This is the main reason for me to ditch my green element and go for it. Sad to say I couldn't find much on the user setting probably due to my poor internet searching capability... 😓😓😓 I believe many brudders here own this light and have mastered the optimum setting for your tanks.

As usual, I believe humbly asking and you will be received... 😆😆😆

Shall we make this thread active with Maxspect related setting and discussion?

    My user setting:-

    TP 1: 8.00am 0/1%
    TP 2: 2.00pm 5/15%
    TP 3: 3.00pm 54/54%
    TP 4: 8.30pm 48/48%
    TP 5: 9.00 0/5%
    TP 6: 11.30pm 0/0%

Sad to say that I am unable to setup a short period of welcome light @ 6.30am - 7.00am to send my wife and daughter off as limited by the TP.

I am still figuring to optimum the TP setting, would appreciate if any to comment.

Hope to see other user setting soon.

    Re: Maxspect Razor user group

Just to share, this is my setting :

    TP 1: 0.00am 0/0%
    TP 2: 7.00am 1/1% <- morning viewing hour
    TP 3: 8.00am 0/0%
    TP 4: 4.00pm 0/0%
    TP 5: 4.30pm 60/75% <- main photo period
    TP 6: 11.00pm 55/75%

I wished there were at least 10 settings available. With this, I'd make use of it to have blue only channel after photo period to have night blue 'moonlight' effect.

    Hi Suzerolt,

Thanks for sharing.. Ya man.. i wish to have 10 settings too. with the morning welcome light, we wasted 2 settings on it to turn it off and remain off until the next setting. That is something I think it should be improve.

I also see that you have modify the color spectrum, more on the blue channel ... and btw what is your tank and light setup (hanging or using the stand)? with the percentage you have, I am surprise you did not encounter algae issue.

I am using the light stand and I would start to get both green spot algae and thread algae if I set it above 60/60%.

    Re: Maxspect Razor user group

I just tuned to a little more blue because it seemed to be more pleasant.
Mine is a 3x1.5x1.5 ft set up. Hanging at 15cm from the water surface. My Maxspect has the wide angle reflector kit installed.

This is my tank. Just a simple set up for now because of work commitments.

Fortunately, I don't have any major issues with algae with this current scape (about 3 months old).
I did have a hard time with algae previously - For me, it was related to too much fertilization.

Ha.. Admiring you that have to capablity to hang the light... As for me, I cant, only able to use the stand. Hanging give you more freedom to adjust the intensity (I guess) than just adjusting the percently in each channel.

Hope to get more bros feedback on their setting... Comm on bros.. dont be shy...

    Re: Maxspect Razor user group

I have a 120W 8000k unit. My peak settings are 75% for both channel for about 4hours. Lens kit changed to wide angle.

Like it for it's ability to dim up and down in an all in one hardware. Minimal heat too.

Also have a 60w 8000k unit that runs at 90% for both channels for 4hours.

Have a few scattered green spot algae but otherwise algae free. Will not relate the green spot algae to the light set.

Any idea on how much does the wide angle cost?

For the current users who are using the supplied stand, do you find it a hassle when you do your maintenance to remove the lights? Do you have enough room to work with when the light is left on the stand?

Not really, the height is just nice for most work, unlike other which you need to shift the light.

Yes, easy. Search for a demo video in YouTube, step by step.

Installation of Wide Angle literally means the PAR value will be affected. This is especially for any tanks more than 45cm in depth.
Most hobbyists may not encounter this problem as most people does not have their tank built to be more than 45cm. As a matter at fact, not many LED brands in the local market has the capability of deep penetration w/o burning a big hole in your pocket.
