    :hehe:

I recently rescaped my two tanks. Please comment! Thanks

This one is my 1.5ft, I tried a rock setup. however, I do get the feeling that the rocks are somewhat too close together? The bare space in the middle is there because I removed the wood from the earlier setup, and I'm intending the glosso to fill up that space.

This one is of my 2 feet setup, however I think the Echindorous rose is out of place ( it is isn't it? ) but I don't have the space to keep it somewhere else so I had no choice but to leave it there. The foreground plants are Ranalisma Rostrata, the new foreground plant from Gratiola. It is like this because it was grown emersed, and it will be a carpet of E.tennellus-looking plants when it has grown. Pardon the colour imbalance, my camera is not high end. Any ways to improve the landscape?

    Thanks in advance for comments!

2 different look, both are nice!

1st tank-Classic iwagumi- combo of rockwork with blyxia japonica and glossitgma
lampeyes looks great with this set-up.... try to work with odd nos for the rocks, IMO I felt the layout is still lacking because the rock placements are too tightly focus in the centre now,
...perhaps one or two smaller support stones slightly away from the centre would help -- on the right near the front of the big blyxia japonica.. that would lead the eye gently to the major rocks...

2nd tank would be a great home for apistogrammas, IMO didn't quite suits the cardinals though... IMO Boboras species would be better.
I agreed the Echindorous rose in the 2nd tank looks out of place, perhaps replacing with more Nanas would help

I love the first one. How did you manage to keep them growing so well? Even the stone is with any algae stain.
Maybe one big stone is enough?

For second tank, how about making it a low-light all-Nana, Java Fern tank? The Echinodorus can grow big. How about trying to replace with Crypts and Java Moss/ Christmas Moss?

    hi squee,

nice tanks.... the first one reminds of a certain prize-winner by a veteran AQ member though!

Do you use CO2 in the 2nd tank? The echino on the right is too cornered.... placed it a little more to the left and front lah...but otherwise, just let the foreground develop more and I would keep it as it is to see how it evolves.

The first one is cool , I like the concept specially when you use blyxa which not an easy plant to go.

Surprise with the second tank , as you can bring another sense here.
If you still insist to use echinodorus, then you can take a look on smaller variety such Schlueteri Leopard..
But you may consider another option like using anubias family such coffeefolia , stardust or marble to give more color variation.

    Cheers,

I really like the first tank. You mentioned the rescape was done recently, but the glosso carpet is so dense. How long was it since the rescape before you take this picture?

I did it just the day before

I didn't trim the glosso, I hated trimming it since it means lots of cleaning up to do later.

One cap of Sera Florena weekly

chquan85, you misunderstand me. The glosso was there long long ago, I just changed the hardscape.

curahee, yes I do. I keep it around 26 degrees with two mini fans.

I think your choice of color for the rocks in the first tank is perfect. The simple contrast of Blyxa with Glossostigma is beautiful and the plants are incredibly healthy. The gap between the rocks, however, is perfectly parallel with the line of sight and distracts, appears unnatural. Try angling the rocks somewhat to break this up. And odd numbers of rocks will work much better. I'm not sure about the choice of fish either, they are almost so small as to be unnoticeable. I love that Blyxa though
Until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore, you will never know the terror of being forever lost at sea.
