    Re: RO Water Unit

Please note, RO there 2 output. Good water & Bad water.
Good water can use for your aquarium. BUT the amount of Good to Bad ratio as follows; to achieve 1 pail of GOOD water you'll have 3 to 4 full of BAD water. also the process to achieve is dependable on the membrane capacity.

water wastage? if you can make to good use, make do (e.g., washing cloth, washing vege, water plant, mopping etc.

    Re: RO Water Unit

Are the benefits of RO water really that beneficial to outweigh the water wastage?

I understand that probably for the start up of the tank, the waste water generation would be HUGE. But I can imagine that moving on, water wastage would be manageable.

    Any inputs from current users?

    Re: RO Water Unit

10% water change weekly + some for top up every few days is manageable. I used the waste water to mop the floor.

    Re: RO Water Unit

Just plan my water change then floor mopping. Just nice as I'll usually create a mess after maintenance of the tank.

    Re: RO Water Unit

For my initial 40L tank setup, it generated ~100+L of waste water.
I used most of the water in the initial laundry/washing machine load.

    Re: RO Water Unit

then my 300 litres set up would generate almost 900 litres of waster water?

Perhaps it is easier to just water conditioners..

    Re: RO Water Unit

The efficiency of the RO unit will very much depend on the setup.

Mine is a 4 filter unit - about 1:3 efficiency - good enough for a small setup.

I understand that units with 6 or more filter units can have up to 50% efficiency (1:1). Its possible to upgrade, particularly useful for larger setups like yours.
Its partially a balance between the cost of the filters vs wasted water.

    Re: RO Water Unit

I currently have a 3 stage Crystal Pro unit. I wonder if getting another unit connected to this current one, would it be more efficient? I would be having a total of 6 stage Crystal Pro. I would want to set it as 4 carbon and 2 resin stage filter.

    Re: RO Water Unit

3 stage is not RO. Add to 6 Stage also no RO. filtering filtered water.. is that overkill?
