yes! glosso needs base. Very important. I myself am using JBL fert. I find that its the best for growing glosso.

Please refer to picture on the yellowing glosso portion.
Tank: 5ft x 2 x 2
Filter: 2028 & 2217
Setup: 37 days
Lighting: 2 x 150 MH
CO2: 5l solenoid tank attached to external reactor
pH: 6.6
KH: 4 (boosted by Sodium Bicarbonate)
Fishes: 8 juvenile discus + 1 adult discus + 4 choc gourami + 25 cardinal tetra + 1 sae
Feeding: 3 cubes of bloodworms once a day
Fertilization: (7ppm NO3 + 1.25ppm PO4 + 5ml Lushgro Micro) x 3 per week. K2SO4 once during water change.
Supposed to have undergravel fertilizers but not sure how much left after salvaging bottom fertilizer when tank broke. Did not top up additional undergravel fert.
Saw Ammania new shoots twisted, so suspect lack of Ca. Added two small sacks of coral chips into tank. Will be doing water change tomorrow.
This patch of glosso that yellowed with transparent leaves were only a small patch. Other parts of the glosso has only one or two leaves like this only. Small problem with BBA and Spot.
Requesting for advise on suspected problem with the glosso. Need to have undergravel fert?
Regards,
Leroy

CO2..thats the issue and probably poor circulation. Ca is not the issue here..I went about it a few times and poor CO2 does cause the twisted growth issue along with poor NO3.

Peter,
I have 2 outlets and one of them is directed to the right side to cover circulation on that side. The other is a spray bar (attached to the external reactor) put vertically around the center of the tank directed towards the front left side. Shouldn't the circulation be pretty much covered?
The glosso on the left side is having this yellowing problem. No issue with twisted leaves for glosso. Is the glosso having problem with poor CO2 and NO3 for this yellowing? CO2 levels should be fine which is at 20 - 30ppm throughout the day and night.
The dosing of NO3 was recommended by you previously for my older 5ft tank. The leaves of my indica and aromatica are closer to green than red which should not be sign of low NO3. Even with a higher fish load, i did not slack on dosing of this level for NO3. I should add more NO3?
One ammania stock on the extreme left side corner is having the new twisted leaves. So it might be due to poor CO2 circulation reaching that corner...

Leroy
Rather than going through each nutrient:
Do 50% weekly water changes.
Dose 1.5 teaspoons of KNO3
Make sure your night time(right before the lights go out pH/Kh combo's) are 25ppm at least (CO2).
That takes care of CO2/Water changes/lighting/K and NO3.
All that's left: PO4, GH and traces.
So add 1/8"-1/4" KH2PO4
Enough SeaChem Eq or CaCl2/MgSO4 to make a GH of 4-5 range.
Traces:
About 50mls 3x a week.
Dose the macro's 3x a week or so.
Done.
You should not run out of anything with that routine

Thanks Tom. Will try this out and let you know the result...

If you can't even find that, then I can't help you either.
Some newbies, like this guy actually take time to read all the free information available on forums before they spend $$ on stuff. Why can't more people here do that??

That's budak for you, don't mind him=x
NO3= Nitrate
KNO3= Potassium nitrate
PO4= Phosphate
KH2PO4= Potassium di hydrogen phosphate
This are known commonly as Dr Mallick's fertilisers. They are chemicals because we want to ultilize the elements in them, like Potassium and phosphate which are essential to plant growth. Using these kind of ferts initally is a mind boggling maze to work out, since everything has to be set by you.
