    Hi guys,

I am trying to get a device to measure my application power usage. Wonder if any of us know where could I get them at cheapest?

Dont mind owning a used device. If any of you own the device and willing to let go, I am willing to get it. Please pm me if you are selling.

    Cheers!

    Re: Kill-a-watt device

I ordered one of those devices from eBay a few months back... looks like this:

Costs only S$17+ including free shipping. It works well and has quite a few useful features to calculate power/cost usage over time too.

Here is a search link i used with all the listings on eBay: http://www.ebay.com.sg/sch/i.html?_s...tor%26_arr%3D1

The unit i got didn't seem to have any noticeable brand or model name, i guess its a generic type of product.

You can use this search string to find a whole list of them on eBay, just type "UK Plug Energy Meter Watt Volt Voltage Electricity Monitor" in the eBay search box.

Your aircon split unit is the main cost.

Lol.. Probably. But what make it strange was both was instated in April and my power reading summary is

April 500+ May 700+ June 700+ July 1000+. All in kwh.

Kind of strange July shoot up almost double the power as compare with April.

Those month were some of the hottest period I've experienced. Hot weather + using air con longer + rise in electrical tariff = your electrical bill.

By the way, are you staying in a hdb apartment or landed property? That much is quite an eye opener..........

    Re: Kill-a-watt device

    Ya, probably you are right...

I just did a estimate calculation, my chiller would consume approx 90kwh a month... Maybe the big portion is suck by my new Mitsubishi starmax inverter unit... That is kind of scary!

I am using the Mitsubishi Starmex as a chiller for my marine tank. But it has been turned off a few months ago as I am planning to change to another tank.

    Re: Kill-a-watt device

You have to check all the usage is it reading or estimated per month. Cause SP do reading only 3-6 months once.

Dragnet88 is totally correct, I've forgotten about this. Maybe end of the year, you might get charged way less to compensate for the overcharge on your previous electrical bill.

Just program in the current local electricity tariff (ie. 25.68 cents per kilowatt, with effect from 1 jul 2014 - 30 sept 2014), then let it run for a day and scroll though the device read-out options to check the calculated cost.

I usually just scroll to the total watt used read-out for the day and do my own calculation.

    Re: Kill-a-watt device

Hi UA, just to confirm, the setting 0.0 so I should input 25.68 or 0.26?

I tried 0.26 and it seems to be correct
