Sterbai, pygmy, bronze (albinos too) leopard, pepper are some of the cheaper corys.i find Pandas are too fragile.
Hi fellow hobbyists,
what are some of the more affordable types of corydoras that I can keep? The ones that I spotted at JZX seem like the more exotic type. And other lfs that I have been to, have their corydoras all mixed up in a single tank. So its confusing for someone who doesn't know much about them.
Can I have some recommendations which type I should look at? I am only keeping them in a small 1.5ft tank with sand as substrate. This tank has been waiting for them for a few months.

Suckerfish no eat poo poo.
Sterbais can be bred easily without any intervention from us
Loving crypts <3
you can try pygmys, they are considerable cheap and quite hardy.
Curious to know what were the exotic ones which you spotted at JZX, corydoras hastatus?
maybe gold or green laser, hatatus season coming soon?
Sorry may not be exotic, just that I cant recognise them. Those that i saw there were at least $20+ per pc.
Thanks guys. Will look at sterbai and pygmy. Is it fine to mix both together?
And how many do you advise I keep in a 1.5ft tank. Im using eden 501 as my filter. Its probably going to be a corydoras-only tank

It's much difficult to breed hastatus, and mortality rate is high for them. That's why the high price.
I recommend the bigger bronze cories also.

Hi Izw814
Noticed your location as Serangoon NEX.
You can check out NKS at Kovan.
Or the shops at Serangoon North. I saw a batch of good sized Sterbai at the LFS with alot of plants outside nearest the bird shop facing the CC. You can also check Petmart.
Suckerfish no eat poo poo.
Cory Hastatus breeding is quite easy as long during water changes you add in more cold water to trigger breeding. After which you need to wait till the female's eyes to turn pure black which means they are ready. Unlike other fishes you should not remove the fries let them be with the adult the survival higher this way. I have already managed to breed quite a few generation of them this way.
Nah not going to off load too precious..... only can add more not less. But I think secret of cory hastatus breeding to me is frequent cold water change and Sera o nip.
Pygmy corydoras are interesting fellows who will swim in schools. They re small and adorable, enjoy watching them swim in schools, wriggling their bodies. They re living peaceful with my shrimps but do not put them with aggressive fishes together.
Not certain about breeding.
