[quote:03fb028c19="FlyingFish"]hi i just checked my ph and kh levels...my kh is 4dkh while my ph is 7.6 (based on the color codes) while it has been discussed that the ideal ph level is ard 6.8-7 i was surprised why i had a high ph..there are currently no fish yet in my tank... if so is it advisable to get ph lower solutions or just leave it as it is..excuse me for such rookie questions[/quote:03fb028c19]
No, plants do not care for a certain pH unless you go to the extreme. What they want is CO2 to grow and that you should only use CO2 to lower the pH. pH/KH readings help derive CO2 levels and that is about all that is with the readings. For your KH of 4, lower the pH down to 6.6 and keep it there using CO2 only. Do not let the pH rise above 6.7 during the photoperiod.
You might want to check out the FAQ section first before asking questions as we have created that section for newbies into the hobby.
