I was assuming your design was a wood cabinet without back... but from your new diagram and wood thickness, it looks like a sort of open rack stand design made of wood?

Are you getting it made with chengal wood? Those type of wood stands look really nice.

Nope there are no doors or backing at all, it looks like the gush easi wood cabinet which GC is selling, however i requested to have additional tier for my 30cm cube at the bottom.

I'm not sure of the wood used, but it is definitely made for fish tanks. I chose black laminate.

i'm hoping it won't look too much like a normal metal stand.

My advice is for you to better check and make sure. Last thing you want is to wake up to a wet floor.

Nice idea! Can't wait for your setup.
By the way, will you be using cannister for your smaller tank? If yes, I thought I read somewhere that cannister suppose to place below the water level to work?

So maybe it will be a better ideal to customise the rack, without the bottom plank for the cannister/ co2 tank column (place them directly in the floor)?

    thanks!

unfortunately the 2nd tier needs to cut across because of the integrity of the structure to hold the 30cm cube tank. I have an Ehiem Aquacompact 40 which I'm not using, so most probably I will be using that for my bottom tank. It should be small enough to fit into the empty space on the ground, or I can squeeze it with my bigger canister filter on the right, it does work as well.

Will see how i can play around with the space once the rack and tank is delivered.

my "cabinet" and tank was delivered yesterday!

    IMG_6323.jpg

The cabinet turn out better than I expected, very sturdy and solid. have checked and it is kapo wood, not sure if I spelled it correctly.

The 30cm cube fits in nicely together on the 2nd tier with my canister filter and co2 for the 2ft tank above it. And my aquacompact canister for the 30cm cube will go below it.

I guess I'll be busy this weekend!

The wood stand looks good, very clean design.

Luckily you managed to test the tank and find the leak, can get a fix or replacement before starting on actual scaping.

I really like the stand too.

Yea, Just so happened that I decided to test it first. The leak is near the bottom, so found out early after putting in half a pail of water. The anticipation of setting up a new tank and then it leaks, just kills off my mood. Don't have confidence in this ans opti tank anymore. Bringing it back to the shop to get an exchange tomorrow.

Yeah, tank leaks are rare but they do happen, sometimes its just a matter of luck.

fingers crossed, now filling it up with water. I got a feeling the previous one was a lemon, this exchanged tank had a better workmanship in terms of the silicon.

Luckily I'll be doing up and cycling my 30cm tank first and use the 2ft as temporary holding tank while waiting.

The 2ft will be my planted tank and most probably setting it up in oct/nov.

Nice setup. Your 2ft is still under water testing?

2ft tank is currently a holding tank for my chocolate gourami. once the shrimp tank is ready, i will transfer the fishes to the shrimp tank temporary while I setup the 2ft.

Ur going to put the chocolate gourami with the shrimp? Might not be a good idea, causes stress on the shrimp and might get nipped
    Thanks!

The shrimps will only go in after the 2ft is complete, which will be the gourami's actual home.
