How long does a co2 tab last?
Sent from sm_n9005 using my fingers
hi,
i'm new to this forum and also aquascaping.
as of now, i have 3 tanks. my biggest tank is only 45cm, followed by 35cm and a 25cm.
i will probably sell the latter tanks and moved to a 60cm tank.
No Co2, only tablet.
simple setup as i will recycle the from the smaller tanks.
i really wish to learn about aquascaping, a basic setup will do.. hence appreciate if someone is willing to guide me along, i'm located at punggol MRT.
tomorrow, i probably will pay a visit and get the following items:
Seaview:
algexit as i got algae problems..
a 60cm fish tank
Led light, drop in filter, a bag of soil and some cotton..
Nature aquarium,
loose riccia, mini fissiden, flame moss or monte carlo.
the past mistakes that i made, was i too greedy.. floating the whole tanks with lots of plants..
hardware shop:
a timer as the tanks are residing in my new home, yet to move in.
as a newbie, is there anything else that i missed out?
yeah, went seaview today and got myself a new tank
tank 1

comments and suggestions please.
Hi Dude, that fern in your shrimp tank will start to rot soon. It is not suitable submerged.

Hi, I like your tank 1 with the tortoise on the driftwood. Looks pleasant.
Try to plant your foreground plants (e.g. hairgrass in tank 1 in more clumps) if you want them to spread faster. Preferably say 3 to 5 stalks, instead of one big clump. Having co2 cylinder is more economical and less haste (with timer) compared to co2 tab, which you may have no control to how much co2 is being released. Foreground plants that creeps/spreads when there is sufficient strong light and favourable co2 conditions.
Personally, I feel that there seems to have too many different background plants in Tank 1, all just 3 to 5 stalks. Looks rather confusing and do not know which background plant is the 'main'. And also remove those bottles behind the Tank 1.
I have read that the CO2 tablets are not that effective. But I would like to know how are they working out for you?
Did you see your plants pearling?
thank you for the kind suggestions,
i didn't spread the hairgrass as the other side of the tank, is another area of plants, i segregate to 2 area.
i do have a c02 tank but just empty, and didn't went for collection.. the tank was only used for a day before deplete.. a gift from a friend..
as for the background plant, there's only 2 types.. the leafy type while the other in thin stalk, sorry. not good with their names.
Should i group them or leave as it is?
bottles removed tonight![]()
wanna ask this, i do have rotting leaves in tank 1..
what cleaners should i go for planted tanks?
yamato shrimps and SAE?
I am using excel already. I am considering to go inline diffuser next. It is said to be the more effective CO2 dispersion method.
Best way to get rid of rotting leaves is for you to snip it and remove it manually.

welcome to AQ, good to see you here.

You can check out some inline diffusers here: http://www.calaqualabs.com/diffusers.html
I need to correct what I said. I meant to say that I have learnt that the most effective CO2 dispersion method is to use a CO2 Reactor. It also means no fine bubbles!
Off the top of my head right now, I cannot think of any creature that will consume rotting leaves. SAEs and Yamatos only consume algae from my understanding.
