I joined this forum like 2 years ago. Around the time, I'd just pick up the hobby. My little boy came back from a Peirce Reservour visit with two goldfish and a little lobster. That started it all. I used to tease a friend who had a huge tank in his home and seeing him tend to his 'jungle' every day. Told myself nah, that's not how you should spend your evenings. Back to the two goldfish, one of which my little boy told me is a comet goldfish. At about the same time, my little girl came back from a visit to a "lonkang" with a few guppies. She said daddy, we need to keep them. Found a plastic container and managed to keep all the fishy alive. Decided to go out and get a proper tank. That started the daily routine of staring at the fishy. And wow, that was quite therapeutic. And that's how the hobby started. Frequent visits to the LFS and many months later, I 'graduated' to shrimps. My tank has shrimps, the original gold fishes, guppies, and the lone lobster. Plus a few plants. All was OK for about 9 months. Then came the algae nightmare. The whole tank was taken over by algae. Scramble to read up, seek advice, make changes, and five months later, gave up. Just could not get rid of those buggers. That's about a year ago and I'm now feeling a little itch to get back. Should I? I feel the shrimp. I feel the plants. And I miss staring at the tank. Should I? Should I ...

    Re: Reboot?

    Hi
    Welcome back.

You already had the thought of starting the hobby back so,go ahead. The 2nd time around will be easier since you already have the experience in the hobby.
Nothing much have changed in a year in the aquarium world except there are now a lot of new LFS around. For me i have to cease for 10 years before i get
the chance to restart this hobby. In that 10 years, there are a lot of changes that i need to catch up with, from flora to fauna and technology. So my advise is
    go for it...

    Re: Reboot?

This time around, planning for a Low-Tech Planted Shrimp Tank. Will be posting my thoughts and hope to solicit advice from the community. Will be approaching from a careful planning route instead of the haphazard ways of my first experiment (which ended in disaster).
