welcome back![]()
suggest you consider replacing the japonica with Blyxa aubertii. Teo has the really big version (broader leaves, taller and bright green) that he calls Big Japan.![]()

finally decided to redo my algae tank.. :P, 1 day old
plants from left to right:
Echinodorus marble queen, blyxa japonica, hygrophila compacta, mermaid weed, Limnophila aromatica, ludwiga sp. 'cuba', Rotala macrandra 'narrow', tonina belem, java fern. Foreground is E. xingu

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

hmmmm... maybe I shld get some to cover the left corner perhaps? aubertii would be too big for the front portion. its only a 1.5ft high tank

This is the former 5 feet tank? The planting is way too skimpy...add more plants to have less startup issues.![]()

hahahaa, same like you lar, java ferns, there are some plants at the centre... but emersed form, so have to wait

Glad to see that the fish tank did not turn into a butterfly hatchery..
Do keep us posted of the developments.
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

where are the fishes? I thought you had them housed in this tank when the 6ft was down.
Anyway, the blyxa japonica could look better if you have more and spread rightwards in the background.
I kinda think that the red plants go behind the log is better, then the focal point will be there, together with the log.
