    finally decided to redo my algae tank.. :P, 1 day old



    plants from left to right:
    Echinodorus marble queen, blyxa japonica, hygrophila compacta, mermaid weed, Limnophila aromatica, ludwiga sp. 'cuba', Rotala macrandra 'narrow', tonina belem, java fern. Foreground is E. xingu

    welcome back

    suggest you consider replacing the japonica with Blyxa aubertii. Teo has the really big version (broader leaves, taller and bright green) that he calls Big Japan.
    why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

    hmmmm... maybe I shld get some to cover the left corner perhaps? aubertii would be too big for the front portion. its only a 1.5ft high tank

    This is the former 5 feet tank? The planting is way too skimpy...add more plants to have less startup issues.

    no, its my former 4ft, yup.. I agree with u abt the amount of plants in there. When I was at teo, i asked myself the same question.. looks like I have to add more soon

    how come its bare at the center background? what will you be putting? Same old tonina and macrandra? :P

    Glad to see that the fish tank did not turn into a butterfly hatchery..

    where are the fishes? I thought you had them housed in this tank when the 6ft was down.

    Anyway, the blyxa japonica could look better if you have more and spread rightwards in the background.

    I kinda think that the red plants go behind the log is better, then the focal point will be there, together with the log.

    only left a few of each hiding behind the java fern , will let the plants grow in before I rescape , you know me, I love rescaping

    Please lah....go and wash your rain bar can or not....... .....by the way where is the Marble Queen?....I can see perhaps just one plant behind that log but the other?

    ?? simi rainbar? what you talking about? all the plants are in there, some hidden.. I like to grow my plants slowly and propagate it later.
