seems fine with compatability issue. But how big are the discus?
Hi
I am setting up a 46 gal tank (175 liters) and want peoples opinions on stock the tank with the following fish
4 nannostomus trifasciatus (pencil fish)
2 dwarf cichlids
1 chinese algae eater
10 rummy nose tetras
2 or maybe 3 discus (to be added at a later date, probably three months after the tank has been up and running)
I'm trying to find out whether I am overstocking the tank or whether I will have serious compatability problems with this selection of fish.
Thanks
Colm

even if the discus is small initally, they will grow to a considerable size. I supposed this is a planted tank? I wouldn't recommend having discus, the size of them will throw out the proportion of the entire tank and you need to provide enough space for them and also take in consideration, the food as well
if you want to make it an all new-world tank, replace the algae eater with some exotic oto/paroto and headstanders for the hair algae.
also pencilfish would be good to have at least 6.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.
