Condensation/Fog on Aquarium Glass

Hi Guys,

As title states, my chiller is making my tank exterior fog up. Temperature is 24°C. Do you guys have any idea on what I can do to combat this? I know increasing the temperature to 25-26 may help but that defeats the purpose of a chiller right??

Is there any safe spray I can use to clear this? I know some car owners have a spray for their side mirrors and back windscreen to prevent fogging. Any to recommend? Im not a car owner so yea..

That is because condensation when the tank temp and surrounding temp different is 5 degree C or more. Anti fog does not prevent water formation, it is just minimize the surface tension. The water still forming but instead of many single droplet sticking on the glass, it will be thin spread on the glass. From what I know the only way to prevent water form forming is to increase chiller the temp.

Thanks for replying. Gosh.. that's sad news indeed. Was hoping to keep it below 25 degrees. My room is about 30°C. So using your theory of 5 degree or more I guess I have to bump it up to 25-26.. bleah

I saw your blog BTW.. Wow.. AMAZING aquascaping skills man! Im blown away haha.. Slightly jealous I may add that my tank looks like crap compared to your masterpieces. Good job bro.

Actually why do you want the temperature to be strictly below 24?

Well, to be honest it's because in almost all sites I read about CRS, it states that we should keep them in temperature ranging from 21~24 degrees. Is that wrong?
