    Re: ID this fish!

First one is mayan cichlid, second one looks like red devil cichlid. However as second one the photo not clear, im not that sure. Could be a midas cichlid too.

    Re: ID this fish!

Its more likely to be a red devil. If i catch anymore cichlids, I'll share with y'all, maybe we can come up with a list of invasives together with your help with the identification!

    Re: ID this fish!

Many of our urban drains, ponds, and reservoirs have been taken over by non-native cichlids. First it was the tilapia and green chromides, then it was the eartheaters, midas cichlids, luohan and peacock bass. And now we've got the Mayan cichlid as well. Oh well, at least they help to feed the herons, eagles, and otters.

    Re: ID this fish!

Native fish can't survive in drains anyway, so at least they keep the waterways populated

    Re: ID this fish!

Yah, as long as they don't end up invading the forest streams where the native fishes still manage to survive. I think threadfin acara have been found inside Nee Soon Swamp Forest before.

Caught this fish with bread, looks like a green terror? The tail suggest so. But the body is black, any thoughts?
