I have sensitive nose...yet I sit in between 2 numbers of tank.... So far no issue... I feel calm and happy... Lol

Looking for input on this question.
Can a fish tank in a room, cause nose allergic reaction such as runny nose or sneezing, to people in the room?
It appears that some people in the room are getting more instances of runny nose and sneezing, ever since the fish tank was setup.
Only happens in the room that the fish tank is in. Once walk out of the room, no more runny nose and sneezing.
Anyone having a similar experience?

Its possible... there are numerous different cause of allergies and fish tanks could be one of them. Could be allergy to silicone used to make the tanks. It may not even be the fish tank but the cabinet or stand its sitting on (could be the materials or metal or glue that are used in the construction), or maybe even the fish food (some people are allergic to certain ingredients in food).
There are people who are allergic to everyday things like soil, grass, wood or water (yes, there are actual cases like that), so just have to narrow down the cause.
Personally, i used to get abit of runny nose whenever i dosed Seachem Excel, somehow i'm abit allergic to the glutaraldehyde chemical ingredient. I discovered it was because i was using the cap to measure dosage amounts daily (which probably allowed the fumes from the Excel solution to waft into my eyes)... then i switch to using a dropper bottle instead, after that no more fumes exposure and no more allergic reaction.![]()

Interesting information about allergies.
This fish tank is just a glass tank sitting on the table.
Fish food is Hikrai micro pellets.
Water conditioner is Seachem Prime.
That's about all there is.
Using a dropper sounds like a very innovative way of circumventing the allergy. Does the allergy only happen to the nose? Or to the eyes or fingers too?
Could be any of those things, or maybe something else in the room that was recently added that trigger the allergy.
For my case, it was only abit of runny nose, usually when i smell particular strong chemicals.
I also get abit of allergic reaction when cutting roots or rhizomes of plants like anubias or cryptocoryne, i noticed if i touch the cut sections, my skin get abit red and itchy, later i found out that its from the toxic sap that leak from the cut parts.
So i guess there are various things that can cause allergic reactions in different people.

I personally wear gloves everytime I do trimming, cutting and water changes. Just in case there is a pathogen in the water. Never too careful with a baby in the house.

Thanks for all the valuable information
Unfortunately ... everyone in my room seems to be convinced that the tank is making them sick due to water evaporating from the tank into the room.
I guess I have to get rid of the tank, until I can get another tank that has a lid on it.
