Nice tank, Lincoln but if I were you, I will remove some of the equipment from the tank. You don't need that "exhaust pipe" hose that comes with the surface extractor. The extractor can be fitted into your Eheim filter directly by using an adaptor.

It seems to be growing faster after 3+ weeks. It has already covered the thread which I used to tie them down.

Also, it does look very similar to x'mas moss.

they are both from the Vesicularia genus, which (in case you haven't been following the moss threads here) the Java moss is not.

Hi Loh, can elaborate on how the extractor can be fitted to an eheim? I always had a problem with this piece of equipment that I totally give up on it.

Sorry for the late reply, Carl but I thought it would be better if I post my answer with some pictures.

It's actually quite easy to fit an Eheim to a surface extractor. You don't need those parts that come with the extractor, the one that looks like an exhaust pipe and some other small stuff. This is what I do with mine:

All you need to do is to find the right length for the U-shaped tube. An Eheim elbow fits perfectly into the extractor.
