My hc dsm got totally infested with hair algae too, spot treated with h2o2 at 2ml/gal and all the hair algae turned white. Deploying an army of shrimps to clear the mess.

I think I killed all my mini pelia with the h202 treatment along with the algae... One month of effort gone down the drain. New tank syndrome, now having diatom bloom after the h202 treatment lol. All the dying peilia is covered with brown diatom at the moment, can't differentiate between which are really dead, which are just covered by diatom
I had this issue when I started too. I boosted co2 and excel to control it.
If my opponents are hair alage... spot treatment with H2O2 or Excel is better?
When doing the spot treatment, should the lighting be on?
And dosing of Macro and Micro should stop first till further notice?
I prefer H202 it's slightly more economic then excel, both are doing great job. We need the light for spotted accuracy reason
I'm not changing my fert doze during this period

Hair algae - are you dosing iron? If so, dial it down a fair bit.
I've had success with spot treating with both H202 & Excel. Both are just are effective & process is similar.
Just be cautious of the dose of H202. If unsure, just use Excel since the dose is clearly stated in the instructions.
After spot treatment, its OK to leave the lighting regime as per normal.
Yup.. Dosing 5 ml of Iron weekly to my 2 feet x 1 feet x 1 feet
Dosing h2o2 will kill delicate plants. My HC and Moss died. Solving the root of the problem is better than symptomatic treatment.
True.. I settle the hair alage issue but now facing beard alage. Unstoppable with H2O2 nor Excel... Headache..
