Hi guys and girls, I am not the artistic nor creative type.
So need your help in some layout.
These are some driftwood that I have on hand. Seems a waste to dispose of them.
Wondering if I should lay them out this way. Foreground will have hc while I hope to grow some fissidens on these wood.
    any suggestions on the layout?

The old dried out stuff was fissidens on the wood....
or should I turn to stones for the focus?

Re: Need some help in scaping

If I were you I would just go with some nice rocks.
But if you want to stick with those pieces of driftwood, I like the current arrangement, I think it will look better with a slope to elevate it and give it some depth. Some rocks to give the tank a little more character and flow would be nice too. Especially when the driftwood is actually not that large relative to the tank.
    Cheers,
    JJ

Hi Jiajuen, thanks for the advice. Where do you think the rocks should be placed? I intend to slope the media as per your suggestion.

sometime, trying to salvage may not necessary be wise. If budget allows, go for a nice centre-piece.

I suggest you search around internet picture of aquascape, pick the one you like and start from there, provided material availability. It is easier that way rather that asking where should I place the rocks because there is no exact answer, the possibilities are limitless.

IMHO,all the 3 wood are approximately about the same size,no matter where you put it
it will look plain because they look uniform and its a bit small for centre piece.
I have some bigger pieces at home.If you want i can offload it to you but not nice one

Hi Shadow, thanks for the advice. So abandon the old stuff, look for a scape I like and purchase the stuff that can make something similar?

That is a nice piece of Bogwood!
If cannot fit, you could always cut certain unwanted parts off hehe...

Here are some pics that I thought were similar in some way to what you currently have and might give you some inspiration :P

None of these are my tanks and I take no credit for any of them. They are pics from some of the forumers here as well as some from IAPLC 2012. (I think)

Just some photos that I kept to get some inpiration

One of the scapes above belongs to Shadow ;D
    Cheers,

Trial and error is the best learning curve, first or second scape usually for your training material, and following scape is just matter which concept you want to try

Re: Need some help in scaping

If you are looking for cheaper rocks, there was a thread created about a rock supplier near Qianhu.

Lesson 1 that I learnt about aquascaping - the hard (sometimes expensive) way : Buy more rocks or DW than you need. So you do not need to make multiple trips. ALWAYS buy MORE! Muahahha

Anyway V200, thanks for the scapes you sourced out. I like the look of the 2nd picture. Will probably do a variant of that scape with a new cube tank that I am planning for.

It is the rock supplier at 40 Jalan Lekar. I've seen it mentioned on multiple threads. Been itching to go down to take a look
