If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.
Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.
sorry i am not apistomaniac
but i do have some eggs here and there now and then
just a few qns
how many hours already
is the colour white opaque?
why do you expect the eggs to be reddish ?
![]()
wahrao..triple bonus man... whitish eggs? opaque? guess u have to wait for ard 72hrs.. r they separated?
Kenzo fear not, i'm here. I presume this is the second day of the eggs being laid. The eggs will hatch after 60hrs . Redish eggs are thought to be the food where u feed them.
BW BH BS have carotine in them and they are relase into their eggs too..
White eggs doesn't mean not fertilise. If the Eggs are white, fussy it means one thing the eggs are gone.
I've seen cherry red to whitish eggs where cherry red eggs nv hatch and turn fussy when the whitish eggs hatch.
how big is your tank? I don't like to take both the parents out after they breed. i usually leave the fry to a bigger size before serperating them.
a guide : 3days before hatch,9days before parents leave them alone.
Cheers!

wahh!! benetay another breeding expert!
sorry, i stand corrected. today the agassizii alenquer nest got eggs too... aramak... my 2ft cube become love cube all of a sudden..

siao liao... got more than 100 eggs inside..
no space to house dem mann... []
thanx for the advice, benetay! much appreciated.
all in a 2ft?
Hi kenzo I have spare tank to adopt your fries or let any of the ApistoMania know and we are more happy to help you to adopt/raise your fries..[]
krkr... swop lahh...
but i'll wait till i see those fries b4 anyting else.
simon: about 20 apistoes in my 2ft love cube.![]()
amazing!!! and they still breed... my tefe female got too stressed recently, due to the number of apisto I had in my 6ft, that she didnt spawn.. so I managed to catch all my other apisto out and separate them into diff tanks
yup... dunno why keep finding new egg nests..
now for the tough part.. the wait...![]()
do keep us updated
This is what you may wan to try.
Get 4 30x30cm tank and fill the water from the tank, after the eggs hatch, after nine days catch out the fry at nite when they are sleep with the parents.
Apisto don't mind taking care of other species of fry like for eg: If your aga bred and mac bred, lets say one of your aga fry went over to your mac family, the mac family are more then happy just to take care of the aga fry as their own fry.
a 2ft cube will have many problems the best is after 9days catch the fry out and of cos try to seperate the pairs into other tanks. it's not advisable to have so many apisto breeding in the same tank . Space is lack in there even if they still can live happily in there .
The fry will grow up fast enough before you can do anything to the spawn. This is where you have adult and sub-adult living together. I've read articles that in the wild it suppose to be liek that to but of cos not so many different species in such a small tank.
The male apisto "dad" will be guarding the brood very tightly after they have hatch. The "dad" will be guarding the only entrance at night fiercely , it may result in injuries or even death.
what i suggest is seperating them at the right time so no motailty rates due to stress . i've tried taking out fry after they hatch and of cos they never made it but no worries i've tried again after 9 days and it happens to me that no death rate still.
anyway good luck with your apisto spawns =)
Cheers!

thanx... but a bit cheem lehh..
u mean to remove the fries 9 days after they hatch, and also remove both the parents into additional separate tanks?
wahlao.. that's 3 additional tanks. i got 4 pairs breeding means i need 12 more tanks? *my wife will kill me.![]()
i was just tinking of getting 2 more 1 feet tanks from toa payoh to house the different fries. will that work?
actually, i dun totally agree.. at times, leaving the fry together with the parents have a best chance.. provided, u really know what u doing.. I advise against removing the frys
and not everytime, the male will guard.. especially the brood.. females are the sole protector when it comes to her frys.. male is more of a perimeter guard, chasing off intruders.. but prob arise when u have too many intruder, small tank, lotsa fishes.. when the female is too exhausted with defending, she might end up eating up her eggs or frys.. luckily for u, yr other females are oso doing the same thing
kenzo, get those partition used for LH.. I'm using it to separate diff species
krkrkr... this sounds like a more viable option for me.
anyone can advise where to get cheap and good 30cm cubes?
toa payoh?
By leaving the fry and parents out will only have one problem, the fry will lose thier parental instinct.
Of cos SImon i know what i'm doing with no worries =) I've tried many other things too experiement and experi. things . There are many things to try in breeding apisto.
Kenzo: I have 5 pairs in five different tanks.
Simon: male do protect the area where the fry will be, yes fending off intruders is one way you can tell that the male actually is doing his Job. The females are the so call "mon" protecting the fry .
partition is one good way i aslo advise but of cos i rather save the money to get new tank. One good point about partitioning your tank is that both the pair will breed if lucky but thats not the main issue here, the main issue is that both the males will be trying to get rid of the other opposing male in the other side of the tank which will make the male doing something.
I have lost 3 spawns due to having only one pair inside the tank without other fishes in it cos the male wants the female to spawn again and causing stress towards the female. In the end the female got fedup and ate the eggs.
So to conclude, either partition your tanks or get more tanks to house the fry. If you are really desperate and want someone to help you to raise the fry, i'm here to collect your fry and bring them up with no string attach.
