I just love this super huge moss ball .... My shrimps are glazing on the giant moss ball .... The moss at the left side is an average size moss ball .. If moss ball grows 1 mm per year, i think this moss ball is around 50 years?

Anyway, there are 10 cardinal shrimps in it and they are very shy ....

Where did you manage to find that giant marimo moss ball? Never see one sold in that size before.

Nice nerite snails too, very unique colors and patterns.

Thats cool, very lucky you managed to buy it.

It seems to be "deflating" and getting abit oval due to its size (probably been sitting still in the LFS tank for quite a while), i guess in nature marimo balls are constantly being rolled around by water currents which help retain their ball shape as they grow larger... looks like you'll just need to manually roll and reform it regularly to maintain the nice ball shape.

Actually i have a problem. The moss ball keeps floating when i tried to sink it. So end up, i must stack some light stone on it ... I wonder how to retain its shape ...

It quite common for marimo ball to float, the ones i have in my tanks do... especially when the lights are on, i can see tiny oxygen bubbles forming on the fuzzy surface. I guess the photosynthesis creates air pockets inside it and makes it buoyant too. Floating is good, then the water current can help roll it around the water surface.

Probably the chances for it to float is greater due to its size, since the hollow space inside it would be larger too.

Maybe you can try squeezing it a few times in the water to expel trapped air and absorb in more water, sort of what you'd do to make a sponge filter sink.
