    Hi everyone....

Now that I've got a replacement cylinder and wanted to use it again, I've actually forgotten how to start pumping my CO2 into my fishtank.

Mine is a 2 litre cylinder with a manual regulator. After I've connected the regulator to the cylinder, how can I start using it? What meter reading should I look at?

From what I remember, there is: -

    1. One BIG BLACK KNOB on top the cylinder. How much should I turn this?

    2. Then, there is another thing to be "turned on" on the regulator itself. Roughly I know this was the one that I used to control the CO2 bubbles.

    Help please....and thanx all.

just turn on the taps and let co2 flow.
if your cylinder is full, the pressure readings should be about 1000 psi or about 68kg/cm2.
the big black knob is the cylinder main valve and 1/4 turn is enough. this is just an on/off valve.
the other valve, which you use to control the bubbling rate, is a rather crude device. you'll have a hard time trying to get the bubble rate that you want.

I remember I was informed by the 'young boss' at Y618 to just "turn a little bit" of that main knob. But I wasn't sure how "little is little". That's why I posted this thread hoping to find out what would be the best gauge.

So, I would say that what tawauboy said could be true in my case cos the guy in the shop did not tell me to turn the knob FULLY.

I was told to turn the knob 2 full turns by NA and Systems Control and Engineering :P

So far no problems though. And yes, the other black knob is for you to control the c02.

    1/4, 1/2, 3/4,..., 2 turns does not really matter.
co2 gas will flow. at 1000 psi, co2 can 'squeeze' through any tiny gaps.

if you are uncomfortable, go for the 'fence', 1 turn.
