Could be Yunnanilus Brevis (Inle Loach) or Petruichthys sp. 'rosy' (Rosy Loach), or similar species... those types of fishes also exhibit the standing on pelvic and anal fin stance.
7 years ago when there was a freshwater fish shop on the second floor in the HDB flat n Chinatown, the owner would bring in rare and exotic fishes. I remembered seeing one that I never saw again. He claims he got it from Thailand and the unusual thing about the fish was that it stood on its pelvic and anal fin much like a tripod. It had a sandy colour to it and it was about 5cm in length.
Does anyone here know what species is this?

No, it is a little squat in shape, like a rasbora with slightly largish eyes. The "stilts" on the pelvic and anal fin were very prominent.
