I bought a packet of 10 Sakura from Nanyang Seaview for 18 dollars and all died except one pregnant female due to my inexperience. I threw the female into my 2ft planted tank with 10 rummy tetras.

After 6 months now got 50 plus shrimps.

This is the biggest shrimp in my tank and also reddest. I suspect is the great grandmother of all other shrimps.

I'm very happy it looks like fire red. It is berried but so red cannot see the eggs.

    Share some feeding photos.
When they breed more then I start culling for higher chances of fire red.

Ya starting is hard. Mine all died on me except one. Throw in all the Java ferns frogbits and whatever cheap and sturdy plants and they will be happy.

Hey.. I encountered the same as you did. My first batch only had one survivor.

Had just recently added a new batch and they seem to survive better. I'm guessing cause I didn't cycle completely as well.. how many shrimps are you keeping in a tank your size?

Ya I didn't cycle my tank last time also. now should have 80 plus shrimps already. But only like 50 sakura females the rest are cherry males.

Bought a packet of 10 fire red for 20 dollars at Seaview. Picture cannot lie. All 10 survive and very red.

Only 1 out of 10 has this yellow line back. That's what I was looking for. Blood red compare to my sakura red.
