Started my 1st planted tank I think 15 to 18yrs ago and it was a 3footer then. That was the time where computers were considered rare and words like 'email' and 'internet' are still quite unheard of, at least for me. Most of these hobby knowledge acquired back then are pretty much through words of mouth, and to make make matters worse, these info can at times be quite bias or misconstrued . This hobby of mine eventually died a natural death a few years after i've started.

14-15yrs forward (yeah, hitting 40 soon...damn...), somehow the CRS craze caught my eyes and after visiting a boutique aquarium, realised this hobby scene have evloved pretty significantly . I was immediately captivated by the clean looks of ADA setup. And when i thought that the prices for all these aquarium equipment should be 'cheaper' by now, boy was I in for a rude shock .

Nonetheless, after doing my sums and taking into all necessary considerations , i went ahead with 2footer this time round, just to take it slow. All items were purchased and delivered about 2 months back (i remembered the delivery was on National Day Eve )

Haha, yeah...PL lights, those were the days.
I'm trying to load some pictures via tapatalk but with no success. I guess my files are too big, like 3MB per pic? Any alternatives?

welcome back, 3M definitely too be, you can try re-size it to more manageable size. Our forum maximum file size is 200k only . Alternatively, you can upload to flick or other server and link it to here.

Hardware including rocks and such coming close to 2grand. If not for the fact that i cant swallow most prices of ADA stuffz, the total cost would be 2-3 times over what ive paid. But i know i wanted the ADA feel, so i have to carefully pick whatever that is reasonable to me...and my pocket =)

Very nice iwagumi setup! Did u face any algae issues during the growing out of the HC?

The HC is growing thick, are you considering to trim it? Interesting to see that they are growing so well despite the thickness. Didn't it trap debris or dirt? What is your fertilizer regime like?

Not on the HC itself but along side all the green algae on the glass walls, i do notice some hair algae spread sparsely over the glass surface on the 4th week or so as well. Then when i started introducing cleaning crews on the 5th week, it got pretty controlled.

My algae control regime presently is simply to scrapped off whatever thats on the frontal viewing glass wall periodically, keeping the rest of the walls for my cleaning crews.
