Changing Motor in Eheim 2213

Got a simple problem but not so simple to solve. Hope anyone out there could help.... . Was trying to search for an opening to my eheim 2213 for motor cleaning/replacement. I don't think eheim design is that bad and remember many shops selling its motor. No luck, just don't see can open the cover to clean the motor and eventually get it replaced... Thanks first!

You must have seen their pumps..As far as I know, it is not possible to replace their cannister motor head as it is sealed with a heat and sound resistance resin.

For 2213, you just need to clean the impeller and it's housing as part of the filter maintenance.

You should not have to touch the motor at all... at most clean the impeller and shaft periodically from gunk. If you get any technical problem, go to the Eheim Service Centre at Qian Hu farm for servicing and spare parts. But so far I see Eheim filters can run 24/7 for years without problems.

Do you mind to share the address and contact for the Eheim service center. I need to get a replacement of the impeller for Eheim 2213, or anyone know where and how much there selling in LFS?

you would be able to obtain eheim replacement impeller from a number of lfses such as petmart, rainbow, ...

Hi,

Saw the post that Eheim filters can run 24/7 for years without problems.
Just got a 2226.

So do you all just leave the filter on 24/7?
Does it need to be turned off once in a while for 'rest'?
Or can I just leave it on forever?

filter supposed to be running 24/7.. the bacteria in the filter will die off after a while.. causing cloudy water

bacteria dies off = cloudy water/pH crash

No idea how long they can survive, I don't wanna test to find that out :P

A bacterial die-off is indicated by cloudy water, ammonia or nitrite spikes (fish will gasp at the surface). You will then need to do massive water changes and wait for the filter to mature again. If your tank is maintained well (no overcrowding, overfeeding, regular partial water changes, good plant growth), the bacterial colony should last indefinitely.

I have no experience with other brands, but Eheim filters can run 24/7 for years... there are even units going back to the 70s. Only at times, you need to change some of the peripheral parts, impellers, clips etc.... which are available at the service centre or LFS. And some people still think they are expensive....
