I think stocking might be on the high side with 84 fishes and the CPO might eat your fishes and shrimps if it gets hold of them. I kept CPO with puffers and Oto once and both got caught by the CPO and it them slowly while they were still alive, which I had to euthanized them...

If you are going to keep cherry shrimps and are intending to keep plants, you should consider re-doing the tank with Aqua soil

Those are big crayfish (not CPO) and will eat the fishes to reduce the high bioload over time.
Adding a layer of substrate and maybe a background(black or blue oyama paper) will beautify your tank in my opinion

You should add soil to balance PH level in the tank and some hide out area to provide some privcay for lobster

Re: my humble new aquarium setup

hi everybody. thanks for the tips and advise, i was thinking about adding blue paper at the back of my aquarium.
as for soil, it's quite complicated i guess to redo the tank. so i'll prob skip, any suggestions?
i just brought 50 red cherry shrimps to be added to the tanks. removed the larger transparent shrimps into another tank.
    thanks for all the advice.
    cheers

not sure how to redo the tank with so many fishes in it. afraid it might scare the fishes.
as for privacy for the lobsters.
i brought a coconut to eat. will dry and sun it before soaking it for 2 days.
and i will have a new house for the lobster i suppose :P

Re: my humble new aquarium setup

While its not really necessary to re-do the tank decor... the more important thing is the amount of livestock in this tank, 80+ fishes, 50 shrimps and 2 large crayfish is really alot for a 27 liter tank volume (based on the tank dimensions).

That number and size of livestock will accumulate waste very quickly and overload the relatively small tank volume in a short time (which will soon start affecting the fishes negatively), so it would be advisable to either upgrade to a larger tank (ie. 3ft/182L tank would fit all those livestock nicely), or start a 2nd larger tank (ie. 2ft/64L tank) and shift a portion of the livestock to it, help moderate the bio-load in each tank.

Livestock is actually not very difficult to deal with when redoing.

To start, use another filter and run it on this tank for a week or so to seed it with bacteria.

Next, get a large bucket, transfer all the tanks water and livestock into it. Then move both filter and run them on the bucket.

    Redo the tank.
Add soil and seed the tank with some mulm and water from the old tank.

Move the original filter and let it run on the new tank. Leave the other filter for the bucket.

Let the newly done up tank run for about a week or so to let the ammonia from the soil reduce to a reasonable level before reintroducing the livestock.

Adding soil is generally beneficial for most livestock unless they are very large fish or fish that require frequent vacuuming or cleaning of the tank.
    Cheers,
    JJ

    Yeah, second on adding soil..

It look very conventional to me.. old school style of Aquarium..

Realized nowadays a little touch of aquascaping does wonders, I'm learning from those big boys..

Like you, I got a lot of faunas..
How I manage them is easy..
A huge filter to handle their biowaste
Narrow to a single group instead, guppy or cardinal.
If you don't want cardinal, I'm first on the queue list.

    Joking cheers

Re: my humble new aquarium setup

added 50 red cherry shrimps to the tank yesterday, caught the bigger transparent cheap shrimps out of the tanks.
    biggest mistake, not being through.
half of my red cherry shrimp colony died to these cheap shrimps
shd had been through and cleared all the big shrimps
    i guess they just can't co-exist

as a matter of fact, i just stirred the tank again. caught all those troublemaker cheap shrimps up, added them to the other tank.
where they meet their daddy (my another lobster)
    he's an badass :P

Are those transparent shrimps the ones packed in cheap feeder bags? The type that have pincers? Yeah, those can grab cherry shrimps (sometimes even small fishes) and eat them, quite fierce.

I think since it is still new, you can definitely restart. Trust all of us here, it is best you restart. Also, we normally remove the stem plants from the holder to plant and not put them in like i see in the bottom right of your tank.
Get a bucket and get an airstone. You can house your fish for 4 - 5 hours there without problem. A simple start up requires you to take approx an hour to finish.

Get substrate - some form of soil or even sand
Get a better filter - canister is best. If not at least a large hang on filter
    Get decent light set

The rest is up to you. Those listed above would do fine. If on budget, go used forum buy some from our forumers
I am sure you can get some at a good bargain.
I always say, start it right in the beginning so you have less trouble at the end

what is the ghost fish you are referring to?
Black Ghost Knife? they'll feed on your shrimps and smaller fish I think...

please check out the character of your livestock before getting them and how big they will grow...
