Drip acclimation is the best method so far. Takes abit more time, but it'll help make the transition process more gradual and easier for the fishes.

Just use a length of air line tubing and a flow control valve, then start a siphon from the tank to a holding container with the new fishes, adjust the flow control valve to around 2-3 drops per second, let it drip for 1-2 hours (remove half the container water every 20-30 minutes or if it starts to become full). After that just carefully net the fishes into the tank.

    Re: Guppy

If its a female endler, then its most likely pregnant.

If its a male endler, then it could be constipation/bloat or too much food. Maybe don't feed the fishes for 2-3 days, let them clear their system. If its only affecting one fish (and the rest are normal) and its scales are popping out, it could be a sign of dropsy, otherwise it could also be internal parasite/bacterial infection or maybe even a tumor, i guess you just have to separate it to a hospital tank to treat with anti-bacterial and anti-parasite medication, see if it helps.

2 days is okay, most fishes can last for up to a week without food. I usually only feed my fishes once every 2-3 days.

I've seen female endlers sold at C328, they are usually mixed in the same small tank (near the cashier counter) along with a variety of different colored male endlers/hybrids. The female endlers tend to get bought up very quickly though, lots of people want to breed their own endlers too.

From my experience the male endler is suffering from bloat/dropsy. Try treating it with gypsum salt and General Aid green solution.

What causes this bloat? Will it spread to other fishes?

    Re: Guppy

How bout feeding your endler with boiled peas with skin removed? It acts as a laxative...just in case it IS constipation

i don't have experience with Endlers. But they seem to be like guppies... If they can take a day of starvation, then feedings with the boiled peas. This would help prod them to eat the pea

Only if your endler can be starved!!! If you have young fish, best not to starve them. They do not have the fat reserves yet and could die from starvation. Maybe separate the male into a separate tank?

By the way its always good to feed your fish some vegetables once a week to prevent constipation. I lost my LuoHan because of it T.T

Sorry I meant Epsom salt and not gypsum salt. Epsom salt is not aquarium salt. Epsom salt is magnesium sulphate and aquarium salt is sodium chloride, they work with pretty much opposite in effect. Epsom salt helps to dispel fluid built up in the fish.

Dropsy/Bloat is usually caused by bad environmental parameters like dirty water, prolonged stress by other fish in the same tank...etc. And it is not contagious. If caught early, dropsy can be treated but the fish will be very susceptible to relapse. So best is prevent it from happening by giving good care of fish and it's living environment.
