Up aqua pro z series LED - how many LEDS?

Hi,

I recently joined this forum and am very interested in this hobby after seeing the beautiful tanks posted.
Upon reading recommendations from here, I went and bought a low iron glass ANS tank and up aqua z series LED 36cm.

However, when I got home, I realised that my new light has only 19 LEDs. I checked online and it says it should have 90 LEDS in the 36cm ? according to http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...nd-Marines!%29 as well

Did I get conned?
I saw that the lesser models for up aqua have lower LEDS which make them less effective.
I have not used it so I will go back to the shop if necessary.

That could be the new model, which each LED is 0.5W.

There is good and bad with this new model, the bigger LED provide better penetration of light in the water, but it also mean hotter LED which will shorten the lifespan.

But both model serve the same purpose, I also using both Model currently, only the old version with more LED seem to lose to the new version with lesser LED... That my opinion only.

Yes, the 2nd gen up aqua Z-series uses 0.5W individual LED that helps improve depth penetration. By right, the 1st gen should be enough for a 36cm height tank, but nevertheless, it should work fine. i'm using it for my 30cm height tank.

That thread was posted back in 2012 and is based on the old Z-Series 36cm model which uses 90 x 0.06W LEDs.... the new generation Z-Series 36cm which you've got uses 20 x 0.5W LED, so its correct.
