How do u ppl calculate the watts/gallon rule? Is it the total volume of the water or total volume of the tank itself?

My tank is 3x1.5x2. Volume of tank is 67 gal. I intend to fill only 80% with water which makes up to abt 54 gal. Is 4x36w enough or shd i go for 2x55w + 2x36W?

    Hi,

    I will just go for the 4 x 36w.

    Will be sufficient.

You have to consider the depth of your tank..........and if you intend to have foreground plant that is light hungry, you need to have higher wattage to provide the intensity needed or switch to a different light source.
