Always find marine tank dark and gloomy, perhaps the lighting? Poorly maintain marine, algae looks real bad, not to mention the salt splash.

Oh, one more thing to consider if you have yet to order your tank. Reading your thread, it seems you've not decided to go either fresh or saltwater. If you plan to convert from one to the other in the future while retaining your tank, take note that saltwater has a higher density, hence requiring thicker glass. So go for thicker glass based on your tank dimensions. Below link guide you on glass thickness.
