    I have guppies in a bare tank. can anyone recommend an artificial cover or hiding place I can buy for fry ?

    You can maybe look at DIY a spawning mop... here is a guide from PFK website:

    Its meant to help in spawning egg-laying fishes, but can also work nicely as artificial hiding places for fry too.

    The other alternative is to just buy a cup or packet of java moss from LFS, then let it grow floating in the water column, eventually it will grow in a large clump of floating moss, very good for fry as they can hide in it as well as eat the tiny micro-fauna living amongst the moss.
