This is to document a setting up of a new nano tank for my home office or some people call this - the study room; actually, it is my study room.

The previous nano: A mess; a disgrace to any aquascaper

The new tank a 30cm cube from East Ocean Aquatics. Pretty decent price and workmanship is just average. Well, nothing to complain since the price is so good. The glass is also pretty clear, giving it the name: ANS Opticlear

The new scape. I reused the rocks. I added some new wood that I bought from GreenChapter 2 weeks back which I managed to soak prior to this. Hopefully all sinks.

In case you need some more information:

    Tank: ANS opti-clear 30cm x 30cm x 30cm

Lights: Zetlight Nano for 30 cube tanks - from Aquatic Avenue

Substrate: You will be surprised. ANS + ADA amazonia + Borneo Wild soil. Let's see how this works.

Somehow, I was not satisfied with that product so I have made another scape. I was not convinced that the sand I wanted to put would stay separated. I placed more small rocks here to ensure that there is something to hold it up. I am so adamant about the soil scape as I am going to try to rear freshwater clams. Aquatic Avenue said that they were going to bring in some blue and some black clams! WOW! Must have - period.

This time, much much more satisfied. What ya think? I will probably flood it tomorrow. Meanwhile, I am looking for a solenoid 2nd hand cheap cheap to do up this tank well as I am planning to have some red plants, downoi and also hairgrass. See it works. Was supposed to buy from this guy but he backed out last minute and said he wanted to keep the solenoid. Well... LL no choice...

    Will update again.

    90 x 50 x 50 cm tank: Eheim 2217; ANS CO2 Solenoid with 60mm intense bazooka; Zetlight 6400; Teco 500 Chiller; Borneo Wild Steel inlet/outlet
Ferts: Dry Mixture/Dr Mallicks. Temp: 26 degrees Substrate: ADA Amazonia

    Re: New 1 ft cube

Hmm good question. I have a bunch of staurogyne (courtesy from Stressed), a few stalks of H.Araguaias, 4 - 5 stalks of downoi. I am thinking of what background stem plant to get. Tired of used ferns. Have been using them in all my scapes. Will update my main scape again tomorrow when i get back my canon 17-55mm lens which I sent for servicing.

    Any suggestions?

    Re: New 1 ft cube

Needs a bit of contrast thus i need different shades of green or red. Helps in colour contrast. However i may not use red plants... the sand is already highly contrasting.

Looking good... Nice progression from the original.

Have you considered Flora + Fauna + Underwater "Clock"?

Already flooded? I find the previous scape much nicer, main rock showing much character and the flow of the branches.

    Re: New 1 ft cube

Ar yes i did. You were the one carrying a backpack?
Hmmm lim, you have a point but its a pity that the scape wont hold. The main rock had a little more character but the branches were a little all over the place.

    Re: New 1 ft cube

imho, for some reason I prefer the previous arrangement of rocks. I think it's because in your current one, there is that large boulder in the left foreground, which doesn't make sense. Large, uphill, to smaller, downhill, makes more natural sense (I also recall reading this somewhere before).

also.. I think they way the soil transits to sand and how it's so visible along the glass edge, gives it that unnatural feel again?

sorry bro Phillip just my opinions.. anw I see you have finally utilized your GE's replacement :P

I prefer the rescape. It looks more refined and has a direction. The previous one looks kinda thrown together; no effort whatsoever.

By the way, Philipians, you can consider getting a couple of clams for your sand area. Sorry. Just me and my obsessions with bivalves.

But it is a lesson that you still can take away for life.
Just as how you have seen some of us do detailed planning, you can apply the same especially for your part-time studies. Schedule it out and try your best to execute with your plan.

And as with tanks, life is the same. There will be last minute surprises and changes. You just got to think on your feet and adapt accordingly.

Good Luck, dude. We are always here for you to destress and further poisoning.

    Re: New 1 ft cube

Hey no issues gavan. I do see the previous scapes strengths. Better focus and rock placement nicer. However due to me not getting a larger rock it kinda lacks height. I need to utilise the branches to give me a sense of depth better. Also i just cannot budge on using sand as part of the scape... just too stubborn i guess.
