    Hi guys,

Trying to make a small shoal of rummy nose tetras look like a chinese painting...

But they are not very cooperative, practically all over the place...

Shot at 1/60 secs at F5.6 without flash. Subjects were lighted from below using a light panel instead.

I think the subjects cannot be too sharp. A slight blur will help enhance the desired effect.

    Cheers,

yeah agree with simon...usually in chinese painting they swimming in one direction...so my suggestion is remove the horizontal ones and leave the vertical to almost vertical ones...that way they look like they are schooling and going in a clockwise motion...

you're supposed to have only 9.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

in that case and IMO i would remove the top right 4 that are swimming horizontally....looks quite good if you use your fingers to cover them...like the fish are swmming in a circle...
