Hi guys, i'm intending to embark on another project using ADA Amazonia with Mosura Old Sea Mud and BT-9 for PRL keeping. been doing some research on cycling and came across this thread in http://reefuae.com. Below is an extract
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Method One. on Behalf of Silane of Shrimpnow.
Cycle a new tank with ADAsoil within 1 week, ammonia was very near 0. After 11 days, nitrate was 5ppm.
Day 0 - add in Adasoil and water
Day 1 - change near 100% water
Day 1.5 - change near 100% water
Day 2 - change near 100% water
Day 2.5 - change near 100% water
Day 2.5 - add in water that was used to wash a matured filter wool and sponge
Day 4 - start to see ammonia goes down and nitrate raising
Day 6 - ammonia at 0.25ppm and nitrate 20ppm did a water near 100% water change, parameter just after WC: ammonia is very near 0, nitrite 0 and nitrate is less than 5ppm
Day 7 - ammonia is very very close to 0, I introduce my CRS.
Day 8 - ammonia is 0.
Day 11- ammonia is 0, nitrate is 5ppm.
Method 2 - on behalf of marimo from aquaticquotient.
ADA amazonia do not need addition ammonia as its sufficient for cycling .. I test mine like 5ppm
1. You can add BB solution to speed up, usually double dosage for initial setup into filter, 3 times for 1st week
2. You can add things from an establish tank like a rock, plant, sponge, filter media to spread the mature BB - very useful!
3. Things to speed up, oxygen and good Bacteria house like glass ring, lava rock and ceramic rings.
4. You can add plants to absorb excess ammonia
5. You can do a big water change after the end of cycling to bring down nitrate instead of using plants
6. Lastly You can add frogbits to absorb the excess remaining nitrate

Since this is the first time im using ADA Amazonia , i have a few queries
1) i was advised by the LFS to do 50% WC everyday for first week followed by 30% WC on alternate day in week 2. Thereafter, weekly water change.
Question: is there established norms for WC using ADA Amazonia? i came across many articles with different WC ratio and frequency. Any suggestion?
2) for BT 9, when i dose using the recommended amount (ie during tank setup/cycling (double dose on Day 1, 3 and 7)), do i still continue with the WC in question 1)? if yes, won't it be removing the bacteria and slowing the growth of the BB colony
3) For mosura old sea mud, do i put on top on a thin layer of substrate followed by the remaining substrate? or do i spread it at the bottom of the tank
4) i intend to keep some Mini Fissiden Driftwoods and Iguazu. What kind of lighting schedule is recommended? Im using 25w LED light
5) any recommendation to get quality Iguazu?
5) Intending to use BT 9 for BB and bio culture SMW for TDS adjustment. is this a good combo?
6) i intend to customize my cabinet and intend to house the filter and chiller. the cabinet will have need to have plenty of ventilation for the hot air from the chiller. Any bros can share their designs.
Appreciate your help
