    Hi,

The original stock of Ranalisma Rostrata that we have came from Ghazanfar. They were passed on to another fellow hobbyist before I got my hands on them.

Unfortunately there isn't a lot of information available about this plant. Best growth comes with base fert, high light and CO2. They are very fast. Each leaf blade is about 2-3 inch long but since they curl downwards, the overall plant height stays at about 1.5 - 2 inches. When light is not enough, you'll notice them grow longer and throwing out emersed leaves. As far as I know they are not very picky about other water parameters.

The 3ft display tank did have some problems with green water. We had originally hung the metal hallide a bit too low, and there was simply not enough plant mass in that tank to outgrow and contain the algae. Raising the light and tweaking the light-on timing and CO2 helped a lot.

As we make this plant more available, the price will definitely be more affordable. Anyone with any questions about this plant can feel free to pm me. I'll try to help as far as possible.

    Regards,
    Vic

    Vic,

Any idea where Ranalisma originates from? The country I mean. I've searched the web and it seems like a pretty un-publicsied plant!

This plant is also featured in the oriental plant catalogue.
I think the book mentioned that the origin is in Malaysia.

BTW, this plant grows like a weed in my tank!
