Juggler's tanks

[quote:b8b01db92e="kelloggs"]Hi all
Saw this beautiful zen rockscape set up at at the entrance of gratiola. Does anyone know the id of the foreground plant of this tank? Where can i get them?[/quote:b8b01db92e]
you mean that tank with a BIG rock facing the door? it is Ranalisma rostrata.

Hi juggler and hwchoy, thanks for the prompt replies.
Yes it was the tank with this gigantic rock. The rock is so beautiful and i think it is hard to get it here.
Now at least i have a name to start with. I will visit them again to check out whether they can order this plant for me.

IIRC, they have the submersed form in their selling tank.. It is in the tank where u walk up the steps and first top one on the left...
should be able to see the name inside the tank too.. unless they sold out already.

they can harvest some from their display tank, but I think not cheap. rock also can buy from them![]()

Sounds really nice. Any one has a pic?

foto taken from www.aquaticscape.com
quite a nice plant from the pictures.. haven't been to gratiola myself
would be keen to try some.

There was another pic that I really loved, and because of that I bought it.
pics from http://www.aquabotanic.com/contest20..._7_Details.htm
Anyway, Ghazanfar grew them damn well. Give them higher light, and they'll become really small, like "micro e-tennellus" some websites online call them.
hwchoy, man, the tank must be really great now. The water has cleared up also? I have to go down one of these days but bloody school...![]()

yah water clear liaoz. the rock also stopped bubbling![]()

The rock and foreground plant in the display tank (can be seen from main entrance) is very zen.
I spoke with vic of gratiola and asked him whether he encountered algae issues with such a "bare" tank. He said yes. If i didn't hear it wrongly, he said he adjusted the height of the light and the algae problem solved. I'm really puzzled.
Worthwhile to take a look if you are keen to know what zenscaping is all about and you will be inspired.![]()
can this plant grow in a non co2 tank?

It can. I have clippings of this plant that I dumped into a 1 feet tank that is known as my rubbish tank ( ie, everything unwanted goes there :P )
I didn't think the plant would survive, but it did! I left it floating on the water surface, there's no c02 addition in the water, and it receives a little bit of the 36W light on another tank beside it. Trace ferts weekly. Nothing else.
The ones floating on the surface have begun to put out emersed-form leaves. The lone plant that I pushed into the gravel to see if it started growing, amazingly did, abeit very slowly; it has only so far put out one single runner.
SWEEEEEEEEEEET!!! found some plants to cover hariy legs of my stem plants in non co2 tank...lol!! think me go get some..

Lol, don't get too happy man. non-c02 tanks and all that kind of low-tech whatever tech tanks are tricky.
What works for me may not work for you :P
Aiyah...try try loh.... no harm....if can all the better!!
