I found out that my apisto are very frighten whenever i walk closs to them and try to feed them, they kept hiding .

Any of you guys can tell me what can i do to prevent this to happen? Cos i haev apisto fry and when i walk over and can even hand feed them. i don't see a point why the rest of the apisto are scare.

I think prolly, they dun have much human contact... I oso notice, it happens in tanks with some/alot of hiding places.. so now, I have 2 tanks without plants to see the difference

how long had your apisto been?

i realised they are much more comfortable with other fish ard..
dont provide them with too much hiding space like simon said,
and even the tank level has some effect.

"force" the fish to get accustomed to you.

oh so forcing do help like everyday sacare them so they get use to it?

LOL.. now, I tap on the tank to attract their attention.. hopefully, they get used to it and respond to it in the future..

Benetay, wat u feed ur fish? Maybe can try my style lah. When I feed my fishes, I shake the can of flakes in front of the tank. My neon would rush to the front of the tank. When I see this then I pour in the flakes.

For fishes liek cardinals i put inside a community tank i have no problems they arn't scare of me it's just that when i put my apisto pair in a single tank they start to be scare of me...

Do they think that they are acutally waiting for death even thou it's not?

haha no bene if so they will get heart attack.

but the fact is that they will be much more comfortable in cover...so by providing them will less cover, they cannot hide readily all the time , and so have more chance to have contact with you.

But given a chance, they still dont want to see your face..
so have to "force" them

why they don't wan to see my face?? i'm the provider of food for them to survive.

I've given them cover for 3 days and i never get to see them so i think i should actually remove the cover and get them to know me better before providing them with the cover again..

the cover i'm saying is driftwood,stones and stuff

Bene, fishes don't think that way. They got instinct n when they see something huge getting nearer, naturally they hide! Survival Instinct. When danger arise, swim away n hide. BTW, since u breeding, wat do u do to the fry that u collected? I believe they're in the hundreds![]
