    Hi guys,

Have been a while since my past hand-on few years back. Have recently tear down my tank as I am in the midst of replacing my living room furnishes. Just got my first ADA tank and trying to scape up an Iwagumi. Attached my virgin hardscape and would appreciate any comments. hopefully can further improve it. So please free feel to criticize ...

The empty space will be filled with a thin layer of ANS bright sand (probably 3/4 inch). As for flora, either HC or Glosso will be main plant to form the carpet (personally prefer HC), with maybe some "hair grass" echinodorus tenellus around the main rocks and willow moss will be tie to some of the outer smaller rock.

Btw, would be greatly if anyone who happen to know where to repair Resun CL650 chiller. I have accidentally blow it, tried replacing the fuse and it blown again. Thanks again and happy viewing.

    Cheers!

I really like your scape but I got a feeling that when you flood your tank, the rocks at the bottom might not hold the soil in place as the centre rocks are rather heavy. Not an expert here but did suffer things like that before. Maybe other experts can chip in?

Hi Killkyo, thanks for the comments.

Like the second layout more, the rock on the back left looks flatter the the other 2, will rotating them look better? Thanks for sharing!

Probably can put loose smaller rocks in between the front row to cover any gaps, might prevent the soil from seeping through

Reshape again, this time sand added.

Thinking to fill up more on the back top corner but no sure if the soil could hold the slope?

Re: Scaping an Iwagumi - 3ft.

    Hi limz_777,

Still considering what sort of plants and arrangement, didn't want to rush to set it up but I think I would most likely settle with the usual HC carpet look, though I have not been getting good results all these while else it would be Glosso which I have success history. Also thinking of adding some miniature stem plants or "hair grass" like near the bigger rocks, and moss on some of the smaller rocks, but now, don't know how to tie...

Hi kiang, Paul Poon, thanks for your comments.. I have added the final powder soil and increase the depth.

Please feel free to comment more, can always change now before planting begin...

    Hi limz_777,

Thanks, really appreciate your suggestion! They are surely useful, esp for me, a lost boy...

I will read more on sp monte carlo, are they any easy than HC, looking at the photo, they seems similar.

Also, do you all buy Tropica 1-2-Grow plant. It having a hefty tag on it, and I have read that 3ft tank could easily need >10 pots to start off the carpet which investment is much more than of the usual lfs plants cost. Are they really live up to the price tag?

can always do a mixed carpet , maybe glosso at the front and monte carlo at the back

MC leaves is much bigger then HC i find, planting wise much like hc quite a pita ,expect to see it floating around if you have shrimps around

Re: Scaping an Iwagumi - 3ft.

I been using a "textbook" method of semchem dosing on my previous 3ft tank, just wondering if I should continue doing. It'a week cycle with either end/start with water change 30%. Below is the dosage I have used, seems it works for my previous Glosso carpet.

    Semchem dose

    Day 1.
    Prime 4ml
    Water change 30%

    Day 2.
    Flourish 3.3ml
    Excel 20ml
    Iron 4ml
    Phosphorus 2.5ml
    Nitrogen 2.5ml

    Day 3.
    Excel 4ml
    Iron 4ml
    Trace 10ml

    Day 4.
    Excel 4ml
    Iron 4ml
    Potassium 6.7ml

    Day 5.
    Excel 4ml
    Iron 4ml
    Phosphorus 2.5ml
    Nitrogen 2.5ml
    Trace 10ml

    Day 6.
    Excel 4ml
    Iron 4ml
    Potassium 6.7ml

    Day 7.
    Flourish 3.3ml
    Excel 20ml
    Iron 4ml

    Back to Day 1.

Wondering will it work again? Would appreciate your comments, please come...

Water change is before dosing right?

It could be a fresh start with prime or end with water change 30% and prime.
