    Hi guys,

I've planted Glossos and hope that they will carpet the whole ground. I've notice that some of them either became transparent or turn yellow. Plucked some of them off and realized some area had brown algea(i think). Tried to remove the brown stuff but the whole plant came off.
An Otto was introduced into the tank, hoping it could solve the assumed brown algea issue, but it seems to be swimming too fast around knocking many Glossos along it's path and uprooted some. Can anyone advice me what to do? Should i add more soil? would it be ok to just pour the soil over the glossos or must i replant them(it's a pain to do so)?

    Re: Glosso and Otto

The brown algae is usually diatoms, otos and shrimps can help clear those. Shrimps are abit more effective when dealing with algae on small plants though, as they are more delicate with picking and eating the algae from tiny leaves.

The oto is probably still getting accustomed to the tank so its swimming around erratically. Once it gets used to the tank it should be less jittery and alot more calm.

If the glosso are being kicked up, then they are probably sitting abit too high above the substrate. You have to plant them deeper into the substrate, with only the top leaves sitting just above the soil.

Here is a planting diagram for reference:
