It could be normal, just left over pressure on the CO2 hose. Check again the bubble counter in the morning.
Hi guys, i recently bought a used co2 set.
I have set the timer to cut off the solenoid power at 11pm.
However right now at 12am, i am still noticing bubbles in the bubble counter. The bubbles are appearing once every 15-20 seconds.
The ans intense co2 atomizer is also releasing fine micro bubbles but much less than normal.
I think this is the reason why my drop checker is always this colour.
Is it normal for the co2 set to release co2 way after the solenoid has cut the power supply?
It could be normal, just left over pressure on the CO2 hose. Check again the bubble counter in the morning.
first of all does the drop checker asking you to mix with tank water? if yes then you need to mix with kh = 4 solution instead of tank water to get accurate reading. Drop checker solution is practically pH tester, it measure the water pH that effected by CO2. So if you are using active soil, soil that alter the water pH or kH and you mix it with it, you will get wrong reading.
If it does not, then the solution probably premix.
I would suggest you aim for lime green color.
Hi. I'm currently using 4dkh as standard. I added 3 drops of api ph reagent till the solution turned blue before putting it in the tank. As for substrate, I am using new ada amazonian soil which should be 2 weeks old by now.
My co2 is currently maintained at 1 bubble every 2 seconds though. Is it OK to go any slower?
During my initial days, I had similar situation where the color of my DC were remain yellow or stagnant to certain color. After i just find out my filter flow rate not suffice to bring good flow for my 3ft tank, in the other words i sticked my DC in dead spot. This was addressed after i got bigger filter and redesign the ornaments and plant options to minimize any dead spot occured.
You could play by change the DC location, try to stick opposite your outflow side, whereby the current is reasonably high. And observe

Hi milk vanilla, wouldn't yellow in DC means too much co2 dissolved as I'm using 4dkh and not tank water as standard solution in the DC.
As for tank size. Mine is around a 30cm cube dimension with currently around 18L of water. My current is flowing from the back left of the tank and I'm placing the DC front right of the tank.
Not sure if this placement is appropriate.
How's your fish behavior? Are they gasping. May try to shift the DC few slightly below the water surface, where the current is quite good . If it stayed yellow, highly chance your dissolved co2 is quite high or not being out gassed well after co2 off

Check your fauna, do they look ok. If yes then leave it as it is. by the way how big is your tank? It could be just like what milk_vanilla mention.
Currently there are no fauna in the tank. My tank measures 30cm (L) x 28cm (B) x 30cm (H)
I see, initially I though 2ft tank, which puzzle me to get yellow color from 1 bubble every 2 seconds. For 30cm tank, I think around there.
Since no fauna, leave it as it is. You can even increase it, more CO2 (reasonable) will speed up plant grow
.
Haha. Tempted to increase the release rate of co2.
I am cycling the tank and trying to grow out my monte carlo carpet at the same time.
But as I am still new to using pressurised co2 setup.
I'm worried one bubble every two second is unable to push micro bubbles out from the ans intense co2 atomizer.
Is the ans intense co2 atomizer dependent on rate of bubble per seconds or the cylinder pressure?
Apologise for going off track.
It depending on the working pressure. You have 2 pressure gauge on your solenoid. one measuring the tank pressure, the other one measuring the working pressure. For atomizer, normally they require higher working pressure, around 40 psi. I cannot see the working pressure clearly from your picture.
Hi, I just checked. It's around 45psi. So should be OK?
So even when I set to low bps like 1 bubble every 2/3 seconds, the atomizer should be pushing bubbles out right?
Because yesterday when the solenoid started, I did not notice bubbles coming out from atomizer despite bubbles in bubble counter. So I was worried and hence I crank up the rate of bps. Is that a norm for atomizer to work after the solenoid starts for some time? To build up pressure perhaps?
yes should be OK. It is normal, it take a while for the pressure to build up inside the Co2 hose as you already suspected.
Thanks Alot to shadow and milk vanilla Bro for all the help and info!
