You can consider Sicce or Fluval. Both are established brands as well.

The above sentence is not entirely true. Just as long as the whole thing is designed with keeping surface agitation to a minimal, CO2 dissipation would be the same as any regular tank. One of the many ways, you can minimize CO2 loss is by positioning the pipe outlets underneath their respective water levels.

depends on budget i guess , sump to me for large tank is more cost effective , also the options of oversize pump for good flow , plenty of space for biomedias

I would prefer a sump filtration system honestly. Easier to maintain, more flexible to put equipment in and most efficient.

thats the downside to sump , the ugly overflows , only alternative is overflow box or something like this but still need to cover it up with the scape

Re: choice of canister suitable for 5ft tank

I disagree with the ugly statement. I think it all depends how you scape your tank. I believe with a proper design you can use the hardscape to cover up the overflow box or side of the tank.

    Use this...

I know i post this MAME design overflow many times and it'll definitely be a headache to clean... but it looks so nice!

Honestly, if i manage to start a 4-5ft or larger tank, i will immediately order one of this and use with a sump filtration system.

You can make the same hang-on overflow structure and design using cheap PVC pipes and joints (lots of DIY tutorials online for those), they all work on the same concept... just that it doesn't look so nice.
