why dont hide a sponge filter behind the plants .
Here's a simple 1ft scape i did for a friend. Very low tech, no CO2, no filter, just lights and an air pump.
Tank: 35x22x26cm
Flora: Myriophyllum matogrossense, nymphaea zenkeri, anubias nana 'gold', echinodorus sp.(the tall leafy plant at the back), vallisneria spiralis, echinodorus tenellus
Fauna: endler guppies, yamato shrimp, stiphodon semoni and a bumblebee nerite

Any feedback and advice will be appreciated. Thanks![]()

no ferts at all? You are using lapis sand I presume? Though the plants are low requirement you probably still need some form of fert regime.
Anyway it is a nice simple scape. Nowadays noone uses lapis sand for scape anymore. I used to use that 10 yrs back when I was introduced to the hobby heheh
Holy is the Lord, God Almighty ! The Earth is filled with His Glory !
90 x 50 x 50 cm tank: Eheim 2217; ANS CO2 Solenoid with 60mm intense bazooka; Zetlight 6400; Teco 500 Chiller; Borneo Wild Steel inlet/outlet
Ferts: Dry Mixture/Dr Mallicks. Temp: 26 degrees Substrate: ADA Amazonia

The tank quite small, a bit hard to hide the sponge filter. Anyway the fauna has been inside for 2 weeks without filter, should be fine.
Haha lapis sand has a natural feel, i was also considering sudo river sand. Forgot to mention i do dose ferts weekly.

no filter why need air pump?
maybe change to a hangon filter or a small canister filter.. adding air bubbles will cause algea growth...
Okay thanks, will take a look next time.
The air pump is to prevent the oily film that builds up on stagnant water, as well as to increase dissolved oxygen for the fauna. Oh i didnt know that, if there's too much algae i will probably switch to a hang-on

Nice post. Cant wait for updates
