    Such snails can breed like crazy... If you don't want a colony of these little once, it's best to remove them asap.

    Brought a JBL 6 in 1 test kit. Tested on my nano / 2ft tank. is my nano tank reading ok? Seem like GH / KH kinda high side. My nano tank had been cycled for 2 month already.

    So overall my 2FT tank water parameter better?

    KH - Carbonate Harness test-10
    pH - Acidic / Alkalinity test-6.8
    CL - Chlorine test-0

    Is Amano Shrimp hard to keep? Last Sunday, i put into 5 amano shrimp into my 2FT. Until now 4 were dead. I have 20+ tetra, 10 guppies, 1 platy, 3 cherry barb. My amano shrimp is XL size, dont think they will attack the shrimp. Any idea what happen?

    Re: My first attempt on planted 2FT tank

    Hi all,

    I had rescape my 2FT tank. Currently, want to grow HC carpet plant!

    Rescape by adding a thin layer of ADA power type oil, encountered ammonia spike but luckily only for the first few days. After that no more ammonia spike.
    So far so good, i can see the pearling effect daily.

    Temperature = 25-25 degree
    Co2 = 2-3 bps hook up with ITSA co2 reactor
    Lighting = 54w - 8 hour daily
    Daily doze with Tropical Fert and Excel = 1ml.

    Ammonia=0
    Nirite=0
    Nirate =0
    Ph=6.0

    Wish me good luck !!

    Looks like its progressing well.

    Just an observation, your surface skimmer head seems to be totally submerged way below the water level... ideally it should only be floating just slightly below the water surface, so that it can skim the surface. Perhaps move the entire skimmer unit 2-3cm higher so that the skimmer head can float freely.

    Something like this:

    Co2 shouldn't have any effect on GH... since there doesn't seem to be any rocks in your tank, i'd guess most likely its just accumulated from the mineral content in your source water (can test your tap water and see whats its GH).
