I've had 2 large (now dwarfed compared to your plans) planted tanks, and ever consider 9 foot tank. I was thinking, there is no need to flood a large tank with uniform lighting. Bright plant lights are only needed where there will be plants. That will also help create focal points. Imagine a sandy or gravel bottom with a rock and wood focal piece with plants highlighted with a beam of metal halide.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.
Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.
I would call these biotope but in clear waters

I last heard importing Arapaima is illegal. I will double check with the CITES list again if I really do intend to keep it. Fortunately, I am not interested in keeping one. My interests with the Arapaima is still just observing one.
Updates: There is no updates. Apparently the folks at CR Aquarium are not interested in my inquiry when I send a query through their website. Anyone have a direct contact of them that I can use? Thanks in Advance.
I have asked some other folks but most of them highly recommend me to use acrylic in the interest of keeping the costs down.

Thank you for checking. its good to know that at least some hobbyists are informed about the concept of conservation. even if it's not, i would really recommend that you dont. as it is, even in 3-4 feet tanks, small fish already feel the constraint. there's the idea that as fish increase in size, the space needed increases exponentially. already, the giant mekong catfish in pasir ris farmway (cant rmb whats that shop name) is in too small a tank to be happy.. anyway i know you never intended to keep one la haha
But it is not enough. Fishes and reptiles are the least of the worries.
There are rumored primates, big cats and poisonous arachinds! Those are the real worries. The first two are more for the animals' welfare. The last one? More of the safety of the general public!
But just to educate the others here who are not so informed, CITES only rules out the exporting and importing of such species. The ownership and possession of said animals I believe lies with another authority. But there are animals listed in the CITES list which are legally owned by various people/organizations in Singapore and these were probably imported into Singapore before they are added to the Cites lists. In the instance of the Arapaima, other than the Zoo, River Safari, Night Safari, Bird Park, RWS Aquarium and Underwater World, there are other private ownership of these gentle giants. These Arapaimas are all imported into Singapore before July 1975. I know a Buddhist temple in the Pandan Area has one. It is housed in this 'pop-up pond' that they have behind. And Max Koi Farm has a few in one of their 'pond hotels' all way at the back near their Arowana dark houses.
I always had a hoot feeding them. The splash they create when they open their mouth to suck the feeder fishes in. BOOMZ.

I got to watch the divers at River Safari feeding the arapaimas and manatees in the giant tank. The lady divers were absolutely dwarfed by both species!!!
