Ok. I have been through this before back then when I was el-cheapo.
16mm converts to 5/8 inch and 22mm converts to 55/64 inch exactly. But I find the super-duper-rough-but-works sizing to ask for is the 1 inch hose. After that I use alot of pipe glue and leakage is still a real concern. Maybe using silicone to seal and fill up the 2mm gap would be the sure way to deal with it but I have not tried it before.
Just a pointer, 16/22mm pipes have a thickness of 3mm which is more than your common pipes sold be your local hardware shops. It is also advised by some of our older fellow members here in some ancient threads that it is not advisable to use these common hoses within your fish tank system in the long run. They contain a considerable amount of plasticizers so as to provide the flexibility that they have. These will leak into your water eventually after prolonged continued use.
I made some assumptions in my advice as this matter did strike a chord in my mind. I learnt the hard way and eventually spent more money traveling, buying more hoses and also most of all, even more time redoing all my hoses. If you want to save a little money on hoses, you can get 'compatible' versions of hoses at some of the LFSes. I know for sure East Ocean does sell a greyish hoses which also does not look too bad. I am using those for one out of my outlets that is hidden behind. Polyart do also sell some clear hoses but stock was limited at my time of procurement. zerofighter also has some leftover from his last bulk purchase. I think you can PM him or search for his thread in the 'Want to Sell' forum.
Anyway, what do you intend to use the hose for?
