    Good day to all,
Am planning to get a chiller for my 45x29x30 tank for shrimp keeping. I am using bio sponge and maybe transfer my HOF from my 1ft tank for this new setup. Due to my work requriement, sometime i will need to be away from home 2-3 days and fan will dry my tank fast. will like to ask all expert in here which chiller should I go for? Thanks.
Spent my time on the tank like how i spent my time with my love one..

First of all, to determine what chiller you need with more accuracy, it will very much depend on your current tank temperature and how low of a temperature do you want to bring it down. If your current room temperature is of the lower range on our sunny island, due to constant air-con operation or your home located on the higher floors, then possibly you can get away with a lesser-powered chiller to bring down your tank temperature to your targeted levels.

But with rough estimates and agaration skills, usually a 1/10hp chiller would be reccomended for a tank your size.

Not staying at high lvl. Air flow at my unit is not good once my living rm door is closed. Currently using fan, temp hover at 26-27. When not on, hover between 29-30. Wanted to bring the temp down to 24 or below so to keep crs.

If that is the case, then I would suggest you get a higher-powered one for more cost-savings in the long run. Maybe 1/6 since you intend to bring it down about 5 degrees. Also take note to put your chiller in a place where is there is better ventilation, read the manual for optimal chiller placement once you got it.

A gentle reminder: the chiller may bring down your tank water temperature but it might raise your room temperature due to its operation. Back when I was younger, more hot-blooded and still had raging hormones, my marine fishes were happy with the addition of a chiller but I killed my sister's hamsters. Cause of death: Heat Stroke. She refused to speak to me for a month.

I just got AL30 mini chiller for my nano tank. It really manage to cool down to 24 degree in 1 hour time. Then hover between 24 to 25. The chiller pretty silent too.
Looking forward might update my nano tank to Gex slim 450 slim (20L).

just use one chiller based on your tank capacity. given your size a H28 is more than sufficient.
if you upgrade to 2 feet this chiller is still useable.

Muar chee: Thanks for your suggestion. I was once like you very hot blooded too and i place it inside the cabinet. Finding a good location to place the chiller is also a difficult task for me as my current set-up is in the middle of my living room between my TV console and shoe cabinet.

Dscheng: don't know whether the AL30 can bring down to 24-25 for my tank anot as mine is 39L tank.

    tcg: thanks for your recommendation.

Any feedback from brother and sister in here for AL30? Can it chill and maintain my 1.5ft tank at 25 and wouldn't burn my pocket?

Re: which chiller should i use?

HS28a will be overkill for a 45cm tank, the flowrate will make the tank flow like washing machine. AL30 is a better choice.

whether washing machine or not it depends on your water pump not the chiller no? not too sure about the repercussions of too low a flow through a chiller though...

consider you are on a 45cm, very soon the itch to upgrade will come.
then you will think why did you not purchase a H28.

Cost wise you can get a 2nd hand H28 at a decent price.

Guys what if I have a chiller running and fan together. Will this aid the chiller or make the cool go off faster?

Re: which chiller should i use?

I think initially when you install the chiller for the first time a fan can help bring the temp down to the desired temperature. I would turn it off after that and let the chiller regulate the temperature. Not much point having the chiller and fan run together unless your chiller is underpowered and having trouble cooling the tank.

Worst of all with fan you have to keep topping up the water

Get the correct chiller strength to chill your tank, if it underpowered then will stress it shorten the lifespan.
