    Hi All

Anyone here knows what happened to the aquarium shop in bishan? his shop used to be in the area where there are shops selling computer games and trading card games. Is no longer there anymore since i visited it last year.

And, how much does it cost to run a 72watts lamp for 10hours a day?

no idea where the shop is now.

the light shouldn't cost more than a cent a day to operate. there was an old thread where mrs budak did a calculation, but I couldn't find it in the search.

it's stuff like aircons/refrigerators/ovens/water heaters than account for most of household power usage.... filters and lights (even running 24/7) don't make much difference.

and do read the stickies, aquatic FAQs and old threads to learn more about aquaria....

    consumption per month (30 days)

    72W X 10hrs X 30 days=21,600Wh=21.6 kWh

    1 kWh=$0.19 (forgot exact charges)

    21.6 kWh = $4 per month[/url]

Was it beside a bubbletea shop? It was a good store... but the prices were a bit hefty. Norman and Alex were very friendly and gave good advice though.

For info, there's a "Tank Calculators" function at the top for Electrical Usage as well as CO2 and the usual volume and metric conversions.

All forumers are reminded to post different topics in seperate threads. This will allow for better organisation of the threads and easier browsing.

    Thank you.

To clarify my post above. It is for thread starters. Please start new threads for different topics. In this case, the question about a missing shop and the question about calculating electricity usage are completely not related.

I decide against splitting this thread as the questions were quickly answered and I would like more forumers to see this thread as an example of why seperate threads should be started for unrelated topics.

Hwchoy is right. I think the former owner sold the Bishan shop and moved to Plantas, next to Jalan Besar Stadium.

    kc,

One of the owners has already replied just 3 posts above you. I think he's got the last word on the subject.

You are correct that Plantas was formerly at Bishan under a different shop name. Are they the same shop and the owners split? Or different shop all together?

Bullosa, can shed light on this?

Echo Streams at Bishan and Plantas have different origins. Plantas founder is an inspiration to us though.

    Bullosa,

Go ahead. The thread is pretty much on one topic now.
